Originally posted by jimbo833 did you have utorrent download the file to the SAME folder used by the beta patcher? if not, it only sees the 98.6% incomplete file it was downloading earlier. you need to right click the torrent in utorrent and select open containing folder, then cut/copy the 4 gb or so .patch file into documents > my games > ... > patch folder used by the beta patcher. now it should recognize the whole file and you'll be good to go. |

Took me 27 hours to download the client on my 30mb connection (all ports were open, I placed my computer on a DMZ to insure that wasn't the issue). Quite annoyed by the whole process. Then I booted up the game to find that Beta 3 had demolished Nvidia performance (all cards, not just one specific generation). Still, game looked interesting, hopefully all this technical bullshit gets cleared up before launch. I need a new MMO to tide me over until TOR. I will say I was annoyed to find all the fanboys for this game were wrong. It's not fully voiced, only cutscenes. My first hour in the game it was 95% reading, 5% voiced. |

Yeah, took me a good day and a half (leaving my comp on all night for 2 nights) to update the client. I am pretty sure I spent about half that time actually playing it lol. |

I'm also fluctuating like crazy. Sometimes, I'll get as high as 270 KBps and then the torrent will slowly kill the speed of whoever is giving that to me and it will dwindle to 0. This has cycled for over a day now and only netted me 82% of the download. It averages about 20 KBps I think. I've tried everything from forwarding ports to even putting my computer in a DMZ, and even that didnt work. Also, the track01.ffxiv.com tracker gives that failure message about not working for the download. Anything I can do to get a decent CONSTANT speed? I'll seriously be content with 50-60 KBps... |

At this point it might not be worth worrying about the download. This phase of the beta is going to end in 2 days... |

I am surprised they havent fixed it yet. It takes about 10-14 hours to download and update FF 11 a few years ago with a 100/10 mbit line. And it they still havent fixed the download speeds ? |

All I can say is that I downloaded off of straight Bittorrent, and I never hit anything less than my max download speed the entire download. If your ports are set up correctly and you're not using Square's crappy downloader I don't see how there should be a problem here. |

I went nuts for 3 days trying to get the beta client to do anything other than download at 0-3 Kb/s. I did that recommended opening of every proper port and i set up a static IP, which did absolutely nothing for me.
I finally said screw it and just opened all 6 files in Utorrent instead and it finished in 3 hours. |

Thanks a lot of the tips mate. My download rate went from 46kb/s SE client to 2.1mb/s on utorrent. *Cheers*
<<
Update: Now it reached 2.8 mb/s - pretty good to download the patch in 30 mins :) |

trying utorrent fix and i seem to only be connecting to about 30 of the 1500+ peers, and 4 of the 160+ seeders..... neting me a download speed of about 6kbps.... considering i should be around 1meg/s *rolls eyes*
this is just bullshit that we have to jury rig this shit to get it to work.... |

Trying the µTorrent fix now. I've gone from 0-20 kB/s on the SE installer to 20-60 kB/s using µTorrent. Which is still crappy. But it's an improvement no the less. sigh... |

I don't know what's the configuration on your utorrent guys. But what I did is I've downloaded the patches on different folders then replaced them with the ones on "C:\Documents and Settings\maalmarzooqi\My Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version\downloads" directory.
I run the patcher again and it kept processing the patches for about 30 mins with the installation.
I've posted utorrent configuration in the image below it might help with the connections.
Don't forget to open the port in your router/firewall that you've assigned in the "Connection" utorrent menu. |

I used the client downloader and it worked fine last night. It was within a few hours of getting the email though so that might have been what did it. I just turned it on and went to sleep. Hope the rest of you have are able to get it downloaded and installed. |

it's not that the torrents don't work, it's that SE disabled their trackers so torrent clients can't find peers without DHT. SE is just trying to postpone everything, torrents and all. |

Idk anything about P2P stuff, but could it be that we entered a vicious cycle here? People aren't happy with their downlaod speed so they limit their uplaod speed thinking it'll free bandwith for downlaod redcucing the average speed for everyone. Could it be the reason? Like I said, I know nothing about this stuff. I'm just asking if It could be it. |
