Man it pissed me off so much.

But it was fucking awesome.

Player housing, in game forums, vehicles, Steve Roach's ambiance, gritty dark look and feeling, unmatched combat system, rare weapon names owned, unmatched crafting system, randomly getting your fists out and slapping someone and of course /sex emote has just never, ever been matched (pelvic thrusting sould be in all games).

But yeah it was also really, really so damn unbelievably fucking annoying at times.

This and it was run like 10 year old's selling crack, they fucking suck but damn that crack is good.

I have to admit however, you can't look back without remembering some good times, really good times, shit prehaps we should just forgive them for the torture? Or is that too far?

Feel free to remiss about the days of NC or just insult my intelligence/spelling/life or whatever.

honestly I tried to get this game running again about a month ago, sadly you have to jump through hoops to even get  an account working, and then for some reason the client just wouldn't work on my computer, i assume it has something to do with vista..

good game though, have some good memories from playing it. :)

This was my first MMO that i ever played.My friend got into it and made a clan called "Rough Riderz" and begged me to try it out.This was when the game first had come out and Havok (my friend ) told me to make a Hybred monk.After 1 hour of playing i dubed the game "Neocrack" it was so addictive...i was stuck in the MMO world from there on out .I can't tell you how meny amazing fights i've had on that game but i can tell you that every MMO i've played since is because of Neocron and i've still never found a game that made me feel the way Neocron did .

It saddens me that the game is dieing(if not completely dead) since it has so much potential :(

I feel exactly same way. NC was my first MMORPG too, i never found another game as good as this. But this is the fate of all small, independent companies: the game is awesome but it never satisfies big time publishers that look for something generic like WOW. 

The thing with NC was that it was tough... things could easily wipe you out bad if you weren't paying attention, players could gank you, you could get your stuff stolen, or your expensive vehicles blown to pieces, or your weapons break, or you could simply suck at keeping with the really fast paced combat.
It catered to the hardcore gamers that loved a challenge and loved being on the edge of your seat when you played. Not a very significant amount of gamers are like that :P

Also, I remember Rough Riderz and Havok :) That was when there were tons of people playing and everywhere you went was action.

I really, REALLY miss this game. Some of the best PVP I've ever enjoyed was in Neocron.

IMO, some of these new indy pvp games (Darkfall, MO) need to take a look at good ole' Neocron for inspiration.

I just so hoped  kk would've made another "neocron" instead of a stupid spacesim..

I played a lot of MMO after necron and NC1 is my favorite... i think we'll never find a new game like it. Agree with what you said all.

I'm really disaponted by what made KK, we had french server with an amazing communauty and great staff, they made event almost every day. They created cool storys and enigmas ingame by playing characters.

Now i think the last chance to have a game like this is waiting for the new MMO by blizzard that should by be FPS...

Great atmosphere, coupled with wonderful music and a great combat system...Still gives you the chill.. Neocron should be called a classic. Sad only 12 have replied here for this tribute thread

I hear ya on all accounts. 

While the bugs were frustrating as hell and even more annoying that it never felt like they were being addressed, it is still one of my favourite MMO experiences thus far. 

One of the best moments was finally getting to the gates of Neocron and realising that there was actually an entire world outside of the 'Cron. It was quite special as I had no idea gaming areas could be so large up to that point. Admittedly it was my very first MMO and as a result holds a special place amongst my gaming history. 

I do hope that they can pull a rabbit out of the hat and resurrect it with a third helping. But, until then, it was a fantastic couple of years blasting around the streets of 'Cron.

Game is still up, they just got a new patch, a lead progammer asked them to post problems with patch in the forum but all they talk is some irrelevant shit in there and still cry how NC used to be cool. I was really surprised that they ignored the programmer.

I registered on here just to post about Neocron.

I used to play back at the very start and I still consider this to be one of my mosty favourite MMOs of all time. I honestly thought it had died a death many years back but I followed a link from a Cyberpunk website and found that it is still going. My forum account on the official forums still exists too, although I can't post on it as I don't have an active account. I tried to create a new account with a free trial but I just can't get past the godawful Click2Pay rubbishness.

I really wish this would be picked up and updated as it had so many great cyberpunk features in it; big corporations fighting against each other in a post-apocalyptic world. Fantastic.

I dug out my original box from the first game and still remember my lament as the server populations dwindled to almost nothing, forcing our clan "The Urban Hunt Club" on Pluto (I think that was the server) to leave for pastures new.

I loved this game and I agree it should deffinitly be considered a classic.  I played this game from the very beginning but also left when everyone else did to move on to other games, but I never stopped checking up on it.  This game deffinitly has some unique features and an original feel.  I loved the rank system and the leveling system.  I too still remember the day I found the gates of Neocron and found out that the city was only a small part of the world.  I know I will continue to check up on the game and probably come back to it a couple more times.  Hopefully at some point more people start playing it again because last time I tried playing it...it felt really empty and was hard to get implants and such done cause no one was around.  But might have just been during that time.  Anyways Amazing game and hope to see more of it!

I would also consider NC a classic. No other game compares. PvP, crafting, PvE, community are all the best. Sad part is Reakktor sucks. I would play NC till one of us dies were it not for reakktor. So all 5 of my accounts are retired. Good luck hunting runner! Kill some Grim percys and Hover bots for me. UNCLE ANTI WANTS YOU!!
