So call me a fool (seriously, if this is a stupid question tell me) but on Gamestop's website it says GW2 preorders ship 11/2/2010. Does this have any significance or am I just really out of the loop?
EDIT: Errr... DCUO says the same date on their site so actually it's probably nothing... Except that DCUO does release on the 2nd and I've heard banter about GW2 launching late November. All in all I'm probably just wanting it to come out too much. |

That is just a placeholder. ArenaNet sets it release date when it is "ready". |

Yeah so lets speculate... when do you think they'll be ready? Based on the videos we have seen ect how much longer do you think we will have to wait. The lack of the sylvari in a lot of the videos makes me think we still have a long ways to go. Plus they mentioned they are still working on PvP... so maybe Q1 of next year? |

Speculation: I should imagine it should be relatively soon. There seems to be a lot of polish on the things they're releasing and they're releasing a lot and relatively frequently so (I hope) soon. But Q1 2011 sounds about right to me. |

11/2/2010 would suit me just fine if thats when they release but seeing as thats less then 4 months away i dunno. not sure how much headway they allow when announcing games. definetly when considering mmo's. how much advance have companies really given when announcing dates in the past? i never paid that much attention but it has me thinking now... |

They are releasing a class (info) every month. which would indicate that we would know all classes in December.
My best guess is that we will know all classes before the Beta kicks off the NDA. so the game might release around MArch 2011. Noboddy knows for sure, not even the people at Arenanet. the game will release when its ready, and they haven't made any definite plans yet. All i know for sure that it will release somewhere in 2011.
((Keep in mind that at early development stages the game was supposed to be done in 2009)) Currently i am a super hero in DCUO. |

q3 2011. Releasing anytime near cataclysm would screw them quite badly.

Originally posted by draussOriginally posted by RobertDinh Well there are almost twice as many active subscribers to wow than there are total box sales for gw ever in many years. Hell, blizzard matched gw1 box sales if you just combine the 24hour first day sales of tbc + wotlk. Let alone total sales + wow vanilla (which is required to play any expansion) And sorry to say but if catacylsm is freshly released it is going to dominate sales, just like every other wow expansion. The worst thing anet could do is try to compete with cataclysm release. Better to avoid that fight. |

I think a lot of ppl are guessing March 2011 or so, and as far as WoW preventing sales of another good MMO I dont see it, lets face it as soon as a really good MMO comes out a lot of people will be trying it.
No ones leaving old MMO's atm cause all teh ones that have come out in the last 4 years or so have sucked so freaking bad.
heres hoping the next batch of AAA titles will have 1 , just 1 , 1 freaking game of the bunch, thats actually fun to play. |

Originally posted by RobertDinh FYI it's 6 million accounts, not box sales, the 3 campaigns and expansions don't count separately in that statistic :) But, on a more important note: who gives a damn? WoW will sell loads because no-one in their right mind will give up a game they've spent several hundred of pounds on, but no-one in their right mind will have spent so much anyway (In the opinion of someone who has other hobbies than just video games, others' mileage may vary). Guild wars 2 will probably sell several million copies and will do extremely well. Only morons won't be willing to give guild wars 2 a go if it's the next big thing because of the no monthly fee. They can even carry on playing wow at the same time! And if turns out to 'only' give you a month or two of gameplay, that's still a month for only £30 compared to other new games which last about a day or two, plus you can go back whenever, even if just to do some pvp. Such fanboy rage between mmo's (i'm not saying you are one robert) is very strange when one game doesn't have a sub. It's easy to see when games are subbed as no-one will admit to saying they've wasted £500 on an inferior game - money that could've bought a new computer or around 20 new games. Although i suppose that's even more of a problem for them *shrug* ah well. I believe subbing is for the stupid personally - that is my opinion, if you don't like it, i'm afraid it's tough. Still, bottom line is that both games will sell well. Personally i'm only interested in guild wars 2, but if you want to play wow, do so, it's not my money in the end :D do whatever you like, as long as you personally have fun. That means out of all the boxes for the various campaigns, 6million total were sold. Not 6 million accounts some of which have multiple boxes. 6 million BOXes were sold total. http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/setView/news/gameId/82/showArticle/13635 |

Speculative release date? I said April of 2011 before and I'll stick to that. |

Of the 12 million playing WoW, only 4 million of them paid for the boxed game. Only US and Europe have to pay for their boxed releases of WoW.. Asia and other eastern countries get it for free because MMO's are only played at the Internet Cafes there. It is downloaded for free and then people pay to play as they go. And again, only 4 million folks in WoW have to pay monthly sub fees. The other 8 million folks pay 5 or 6 cents to log in and play for 1-2 hours at a time. Both games are gonna have huge sales. I'm guessing both wil sell 4 mill or so. I find it so cute when fanbois get their panties in a bunch:) "My dad can beat up your Dad! " "No! My Dad can beat up YOUR Dad!". |

Originally posted by Leonona Actually they weren't going to make it this massive at the start. When they released Guild Wars 2 info it was probably going to be more like GW1 but then they scrapped that to redesign everything and really take this opportunity to do exactly what they wanted to do... still it sucks to have to wait this long after GW2 was first announced lol |

Originally posted by Lord.Bachus Good thinking of them! They can take all the time they need, in my opinion. Anything to make this game as awesome as it already sounds. And if they need some more time to have a number of Dynamic Events closer to 3,000 instead of 2,000, then by all means, they should certainly do so The ACTUAL size of MMORPG worlds: a comparison list between MMO's |
