Just noticed that Amazon in the UK has a release date of September for the next Exp pack. Have no idea what its based on or how legitimate it is but Amazon is usually fairly careful and accurate on release dates in my own experience.

All guess work at the moment, their's a rumor (likes to be true) that Friends and Family Alpha is to start next week, if it does were looking at a release in 5-6 months time.

today when i went to the gamestop to pre order sto they gave me a paper with new games and their release dates... if this stuff is true it says wow cataclysm comes out on 11/01/10  price is 39.99... thats cheap i payed 53.24 for sto

Those release dates are guess dates only, they have to have a date listen in order to sell preorder Games. 

I very HIGHLY doubt that you will have to wait until the fall to play this game, especially considering the PTR page already has Cataclysm up on it, but has nothing to install yet.  That and also their isn't enough content to last most players until September.  They would have too many people dropping subs, so they need to keep the new stuff coming.  Heck people are already taking down the Lich King and he just got released.

Expect an early summer release, with the PTR coming within the next month.

Um blizzard does not put expansions on the ptr... they have alpha beta closed beta and release since they are no where near alpha this game will be released late winter say november 24th like the original wow released seeing as its a redo of azeroth.. so early summer no, alot of people resubbing after they quit during summer in november yes.

They have been working on this project since before WoTLK... If they release the game after Blizzcon 2010 that would be odd.  They said people will be crying about Goblins come next Blizzcon.  Hmmm?

They are not going to have enough content to last the Summer, even with Icecrown Citadel. Even now, Ive done almost all of ICC and feel myself running out of things to do in terms of raids. Cataclysm is coming out around June by my guess.

I would guess before October because that's when the next Blizzcon is.  And they said they will NOT have Cataclysm info in that Blizzcon.  It will be strictly about Diablo 3 and their new secret MMO.

Doesn't matter.

Blizzard has moved to being all about the 'gating'. You will eat your gameplay in rations that we decide for you and you will like it.

Oh well for people not having content to play. Expect to see it streched... until they decide to release Cata. They'll stretch it, just like they did for other patches (arena seasons), xpacs, etc.

The funny thing about Cataclysm is that it turns everything upside down. Basically making a brand new game. 1000 needles is flooded... The Barrens is divided. How is that going to improve gameplay? No more new content...just regurgitation on an epic scale.

It is essentially WoW 2.

Knowing Blizzard they prefer to release it at November just like WotLK although I remember TBC being delayed. Blizzard have not given an official release date yet. Looking at the Beta videos, it does not look ready imo.

Yeah november seems like a realistic date for the expansion to come out, but knowing blizzard they might hold onto it while starcraft 2 settles some more. just like a trump card up thier sleeve, making sure when the best time to market is. Id probably say close to december if not would be when it really comes out.
