With the announcement of Torchlight II barely a day old, Gamasutra fired off several questions to Runic Games CEO Max Schaefer. The interview covers a variety of topics but of most interest to our readers is a discussion about the reasons behind a cooperative Torchlight before releasing the MMO.
The rest of the interview focuses on lessons learned from Torchlight I, retention of current players, game sales, console development and the resurgence of the action RPG genre. Read the full interview at Gamasutra. ![]() Associate Editor: MMORPG.com |

Pretty smart move. More money = more resources, more time, and in the end more knowledge on how to work on things. Can't wait. |

Been a HUGE fan of Flagstaff/Runic since Mythos. These guys are genuine, you can tell they really love what they do, THEY ACTUALLY LISTEN TO THEIR PLAYERBASE, and they deserve all the success they've been getting from Torchlight. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of guys. Fucking stoked. |
