SWTOR on consoles. Anyone else notice this? This by no means confirms a console release, but has anyone else noticed the absence of the usual PC-DVD or Windows logos anywhere? Check out any majorly published game's site being released for the PC and you'll find those logos somewhere. Also, you'd figure a frequently asked question would be 'what platforms will this be on?" or "will this game be on consoles?" yet those questions are also absent from the FAQ. I'm just being a conspiracy theorist here, but to me this says they are either DEFINITELY going to release it on consoles, or they havent decided yet as they are 'looking into it'. They probably dont want to pull a Cryptic or Funcom move and announce it for consoles, set up pre-orders, and then have to back out of their commitments. Historically, Bioware has release games for both PC and consoles ever since the original KoTOR. What are your thoughts? |

I thought they already said no to consoles but anything is possible. All Microsoft has to do is throw money at people and they usually get what they want. |

What are the system requirements for Star Wars: The Old Republic? While we don’t have the minimum system requirements available just yet, the goal is to make the game playable on most PCs. ________________________________________________________ |

Originally posted by SaintViktor mmmh yeah. But Microsoft is in Consoles now.... so why they would want a pc exclusive when they could have a xbox/pc exclusive on their hand? No no, microsoft involvment do not at all mean "no console version". As long as there are separate servers, in case they have 2 versions, it is going to be fine with me. If they put it for console also i just wont buy the game ... last time they had a game for pc and console the interface was made for console and PC had to live with it ... AKA FFXI. I threw the game away because of the controls. |

It's been known for a long time now that the game will be a PC exclusive on launch... They haven't said no to ever releasing on Mac or consoles, but that doesn't mean they will.
I can definitely see Mac happening in the near future, but consoles? Not likely imo, it would require a complete redesign of many game features, it also doesn't look fit for the simplicity a controller setup requires from the gameplay demo's. |

Bioware has already stated that the game is not being developed for ANY platform other than PC Windows at this time. |

It is highly possible that they could get TOR to run on consoles. The keymapping is not an issue, I've played most MMOs with a controller at one point or another using switchblade.
Console hardware specs are low end PCs, yes, but they are also all the same so TOR could easily be optimized for the hardware which could increase performance.
All that aside, at this time, there are no plans for them to release SWTOR on consoles eventhough it was originally being considered at one point and time. It is doubtful we will see a TOR console port anytime soon, though more appropriately, it is doubtful we will see a SWTOR console port on this generation of console. |

They could team up with the new X Box 360 Kinect that launches in November. Lightsaber battles would be sweet. O.o

This game is made with the Hero Engine so you would have to research this engine for the console capabilities. Microsoft is a pain to work with for updating live games in the MMO sense. PS3 is a lot easier. |

I'm calling it now. If SWTOR releases on Consoles and PC the console playerbase will be much bigger than the PC one. I don't think they will release it for consoles though. |
