I am still waiting for the first game Cryptic puts out worth spending money on.... (not a big superhero fan). Although I could play this game on a co-worker's lifetime sub for free (yeah, I make fun of him all the time) as he stopped playing, the BS they keep pulling makes me not want to do business with them in the future.

Never, I don't care what IP they get. |

I'll certainly never pre-order one again... if they stop knocking out paddling pool depth games, and actually created something decent I wouldn't rule it out, but I'll not be going anywhere near it until at least 3 months after release. |

I dont think its sensible to say I would never buy a game from them again but I certainly would not want one that is built on the same engine and using the same "cookie cutter" design base that CO and STO have been created from. In my own personal opinion they are both very poor quality, drab games. I am more wary than I used to be about getting hyped up for a cryptic game but that does not mean I rule them out forever.
To err is human....to play is divine |

No Cryptic or Mythic or Funcom. Won't rule out completely but I won't pre-order from these three. Might try a free trial of some sorts, but no money spent.
Tried Star Trek and it was fun for awhile. Not enough to spend money on though. |

It was crystal clear from the start what kind of game STO would be. This is cryptic, they don't do depth. They make shallow, simplistic MMO lights that appeal to the kind of people that play Halo. It is a console MMO on the PC because consoles can't even run it. And yes this is harsh but there is a market for that. Don't hate the producers of Farmville just because you don't like Farmville. Just accept that not every MMO has to be liked by everyone and stay clear of the ones you don't like. Sure, you could lament that the Star Trek license was bought by this company and that it wasn't given to a developer who would have done more with it. But to bad, this kinda thing happens. If you want depth, stay away from cryptic games. If you want a game you can master during the free trial, go ahead. You will have seen everything done it all and it won't have cost you a dime. |

Answer to the OP title: Highly doubtful. After Champions Online I was sceptic but now after the STO debacle I doubt very much that they are capable of creating a good MMOG. I mean they had such a magnificent and rich IP as Star Trek and they did this? You have to be seriously untalented to do that... |

Simple answer: NO!
Eve online feels more like star trek than "STO". |

Dont get me wrong I love my fantasy but enough is enough.
Tell ya right now the Perfect IP for an MMO= Shadow Run>Sci Fi,fantasy, magic, guns, hacker, swords, trolls, dragons, cyborgs, dwarves, elves, BFG, cybernetics, potions so on and so forth. |

Originally posted by Perdition_uk There's no problem with pre-ordering, as I do that with any MMO I am interested in so that I can get into open beta at least to test drive the game. The problem lies in pre-paying for a MMO before you can try it out; just pre-order from an actual store, or one of the online distrbuters that allow you to cancel, and you'll be fine. Haven't played any Craptic game so far but as much as I know from other people's experience they are not worth my time and money. Read enough about their scams. |

I don't think I will play anymore of Cryptic's games. I've only tried two in beta, including Star Trek.
Their Idea of a good game and My idea of a good game simply do not coincide. /shrug

If I liked what the game had to offer, sure. To me it isn't about the company behind the game, it is the features and setting that matter most. As much as everyone hates SoE and Cryptic, they are major players and will continue in that space for the forseeable future. That said, Cryptic would have to be VERY open about the status of their next game and provide better visibility into what they HAVE, not what they are planning for launch. |

Never! I would slide down a 20 foot razor blade into a vat of lemon juice before i would ever touch another product made by that fast cash grab of a company. |
