Hello, chums. I've gotta tell you, being a WoW player I have to admit that the single most... Unintelligent class the less-than-capable players pick has to be Hunter. Now, before you get all upset, this is from my own experiences. And if you're a smart Hunter, more power to you, but unfortunately I've never met you. Yes, I've never met an intelligent or even sincere Hunter in World of Warcraft. Ever. They roll need on Strength gear, even at higher levels, on Intellect gear, and stuff they just don't need... "Because it looks cool." Yeah, that's the reaction I usually get when I confront them on the matter. They never seem to listen to any group strategies, pulling aggro from every direction. Running into rooms before the tank gets in there. They never speak in full sentences (aka, "lolololol" syndrome). And when they do manage to be okay at their class, they're almost always arrogant asshats.
Now, I know I know, shame on me for putting a label on a class... But I just find it funny that not once have I ever met a decent person who plays a Hunter. Now, since WoW has been my game of choice for a long time now, I was curious to see your opinions on which class you consider the "dumb" class in your MMO and why.
tl;dr: I hate hunters, they're generally stupid. Which class in your MMO do you consider to generally garner stupid players. |

Are you stuck in 2006? It's been a while since getting randomly grouped with a hunter was any particular source of concern for me. Oh, and our guild's raid leader is a hunter an probably a better player than I'll ever be. That said, you made me remember Combat Medics in pre-CU SWG. It wasn't the players that were dumb, it was just so ridiculously easy to kill multiple enemy players with them. One of the bad points that us NGE moaners tend to forget about with our rose-tinted spectacles :) |

Like I said, I have my own experiences, and so do you clearly. I'm sorry I've never met your guild leader. I'll try to keep my eyes peeled. |

Sounds like you just took the mechanic and spread it thin. "Well no, there's one class that can do it better than others." I see, so they're healers. "No. They're.." -mind asplode- |

Albeit just anicdotal evidence and creating stereotypes (love that ole ranger's corpse though.. still funny), I would say this applies to 4 out 5 people who play elves. Though it was moreso back in EQ1, I find a lot of the funnier and mature (subjective loaded) folks tend to play races like trolls ogres and orcs. This goes double on RP servers :) |

Well, sure, but my point is the bulk of less than stellar players I've come across have been Hunters. I just want to know which class you think generally garners the not so proficient players. Or classes. Whichever you prefer. From any game, for that matter. |

Originally posted by twstdstrange No idea really. But I do notice when you do play games you run across certain classes are occupied by a person with a certain personality albeit their online persona or just who they really are. Like most of the Hunters you have encountered are pretty much twats. Most of the wizards I have encountered on games have been smart, most of the warriors I've encountered on games have been used by the.... not so smart, most of the archers I've encounter were annoying. "We got rid of the trinity." How'd you do that? "Now everyone can heal." Sounds like you just took the mechanic and spread it thin. "Well no, there's one class that can do it better than others." So you don't really have anything to bring into the discussion besides a general answer that doesn't really add to the conversation much? Okay, cool, works for me. |

Yes. That's right. So, you're opinion on the topic at hand is...? Or do you just want to drop generalized, nonspecific answers that don't really answer the question? |

Everything but Hunter. I don't feel inclined to choose just one class, just whatever I feel like playing. |

Originally posted by Grimzay It wouldn't surprise me if stereotypes ran true to archetypes. As far as the hunters in Wow though, I do remeber when that was quite the horrifying truth. I would argue that the easier a class is to level/progress the more likely you are to see proportionally at each tier or stage of progression people that are less capable in whichever way you want to categorize it. The harder a class is the less likely you'll have that simply because of the effort involved acting as a filter. You can be bad at gaming/WoW to reach level cap but some classes are still significantly easier than others and therein also lies the people most other people dislike. That thought doesn't hold up in a free for all progression based skill game like EvE or Darkfall, but I think its retatively accurate for class based games. |

I always thought the warrior/tank's were the "dumb" class. Whenever I start a new game and might be unsure of how things work, always choose the one with the highest survivalbility. Being a tank is always the simplest to play, you ussually have the most hp and def so it can be hard to die, it makes it so you can pretty much just stand there taking damage, no need for any strategy at all. :P |
