Originally posted by Arnoagns Lol... I like you, you're funny. But I'm just saying how I feel about the game, that's what this forum is about, I didn't insult anyone who didn't come up with stupid assumptions, or derailed the thread, and made the topic about me. Yes i played for 250 hours, and i explained why, again, that does not change how i feel about the game, and i can't see why people would keep using that as a trumph... "You played 250 hours, you got more than your money is worth" "250 hours is more than a good single player RPG would last" etc. etc. How does this change that this game is boring.. All the reviews so far have had 1 thing in common... And that's how the game manage to capture a gamers interest for hours, days or even a couple of weeks if your a stubborn mofo. But that must be because the reviewers are lousy at their job right, that must be cause the reviewers are reviewing the wrong genre, that must be because they sucked at the game, and got destroyed right? You all come up with all these excuses for why they are wrong, and you are right.. Tbh, you guys are no different than me, except, now you have taken the whole thing to personal attacks, that i must be an idiot if you don't like your perfect game.
Still doesn't change the fact, that the game is boring. And I like orange.

I didn't expect you to respond politely, so I must now rearrange my rebuttal. I don't feel the reviewers in question are bad at their job, being a writer myself I know how much flack you get for voicing an opinion. But it is just that, an opinion, taking into mind that in one given instance there are ten times of people versus reviews, then it's belittled considerably. Sometimes a game is fun because it's just fun, I suppose. There's an underlying X factor that depends on each individuals experience and memory. For example:
When I was in 5th grade I was an admittedly (trying not to be too humble) handsome young man that did have a selection of women to cherry pick (pun not intended). Mind you, this was elementary, so a "Lady's man" in elementary school is like a sheep without wool (No sex). During one of my daily, regimented quick scans of the room (Now I call it 'Eyeing the talent') I spotted a disgusting, over weight, foul odor stricken girl barraging her way through a snicker doodle. Inexplicably she had grown a mustache entangled with both snicker and doodle that a boy of my age could only dream, unappealing and intimidating, probably any man or genitalia inefficient young boy's worst woman encounter brought to life. Oddly enough, I was attracted and I honest to god wanted to pork the porker! Needless to say, it was a shock to the system and even my hormones were left saying "The fuck?". What I am saying is, sometimes people just enjoy things for whatever reason, the problem with reviews is that words are limited while feeling isn't. Not that they are poor at their jobs. Maybe there will be some fixes to the things you don't like, who knows, right? Hope you find what game you're lookin' for man, cheers. |

No one does boring things for over 250 hours by choice. You found some enjoyment in it.
Yes, all the reviews have one thing in common, they say the game can be a ton of fun, if not flawed. |

I do critique games though, as well as give praise when it is due. |

Originally posted by Mrbloodworth True. Which means the game needs content. On top of that: http://na.apb.com/en/news/announcements/2010/07/12/apb-the-road-ahead. There is more then enough to do for me, and definitely more then enough to look forward to. However, I do miss my fantasy MMO. |

out of extreme morbid curiosity and boredom i picked the game up today. yeah, there's stuff that's definately broken, but I have a feeling it will be ironed out eventually. i do feel like I am paying to play a beta but, it's not like I have to sit and grind to compete. the thrill of being in a car chase with 3-4 other players (3 diff cars) chasing down 2 other players (2 diff cars) was a watershed moment for me. I was having a blast at that point. with limited playtime coming up, I will definately be sticking with this. overall, let's just say I was pleasantly suprised Current Games:EvE |

Originally posted by Mrbloodworth Never said I was bored every 250 hours of it. And some people incl. myself might try to force oneself to like the game, or hope it gets better, in lack of games one haven't already played or games one find interesting, and feel like trying.
For your second statement. "If not flawed", but it is flawed, it is boring. So "Shrug" what can ya do.
Why aren't you playing APB, instead of defending it here, every hour of the day... you find that being here, is more fun than playing your perfect game??? lol.

Still having fun. Getting a lot better too. Right now I'm trying to get the Cisco, that cool little sports car, which requires you to make arrests. I think I got about 10 arrests under my belt this morning.
So far I don't think the stun weapons are overpowered, but they do help if you can get an arrest on a timed mission when the clock is ticking down. I only use it when I am going solo 1vs1. I think I am better with my Ntech, but there is probably a learning curve.
Right now my ride is a Patriot Jericho, a kind of mustang look alike. It is hella fast but handles poorly so far, atleast for me. I think I need to keep practicing with it. |

I was teh suk last night! Could not hit the broad side of a barn to save my life. Then I realsized with the last patch that all of my control presets had changed and I changed everything but, the mouse sensitivity. D'oh!
No wonder I was over compensating so much! Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them. |

Originally posted by corpusc I'm 41. I have played hundreds of games in the last 30+ years.
My favorite fps was Star Trek Voyager Elite Force, probably because of the Star Trek skin. I used to play Star Trek Voyager Elite force 8 hours a day on my days off for atleast a couple years. I got really really good with ffa deathmatch. I've also played other fps and third person shooters before leaving the genre and getting into mmo's when SWG launched.
I like Quake or UT style fps, not Battlefield or Call of Duty type games where you have team deathmatch. I like to be a lone wolf killing everyone. I like point aim shoot; not wait to spawn, run back to action, sneak around and be pigeon holed into a class of fighter. There was something very visceral about old style fps. Now it's slower, more contemplative, more restrictive, and a crap load more buttons to push and keep straight in your head.
Somedays I love APB. Other days I get really frustrated. I overlook all the issues APB has with combat because I am having fun, but it really needs some work. And it's not just me saying it, the devs have stated as much and are busy working to improve it. So we'll see what happens.
Oh, I got my Cisco sports cars after making a number of arrests. That was a good day. But today I was having a bad day.

Originally posted by Terranah surprising # of similarities to me. i'm 40, gaming for around 29 years. i also loved Elite Force and that old school FFA deathmatching with a variety of fanciful weapons with various dynamics. now its all military crap bulleted weapons that all work pretty similarly, forced spectating, forced teams, forced classes, slow and tedious campfests. was just curious where the original sense of "shame" came from. i thought maybe you were new to these kinda games and thought it shameful to be entertained by something so "simple" and "shallow" (since it doesn't have 1,000 spells/abilities/etc/etc). I never said i didn't enjoy the game, I enjoyed it for 250 hours, over 3 characters. But then I realised that the game has nothing to offer that I can't get better elsewhere, how hard is that to understand...
Mentally challenged??
What you guys are saying is that, I played for 250 hours, so I should forever praise the game, that i have no right to dislike a game cause i played it?? That's like saying if you have played 250 hours of wow, you can't hate the game.
Great logic. I take what I want, when I want it. |

Just to update: I'm still playing the game quite a bit. I hit rank 200 last night. Unlocking slotted weapons and putting in upgrades I either unlocked or bought on the auction house. The upgrades definitely make a difference, atleast for me.
Also got into a small but active clan. They are a cool bunch of guys. The game is so much more fun when your cruising around with your budies.
My character has evolved from a police officer look to a more paramilitary look.
The game has been lagging a bit for about a week or so, not just for me but for others in the clan as well. But the game is still very playable and very fun. |
