Pandemic Legion, champions of the last two Alliance Tournament's triumphed once again this weekend, completing a hat trick as they are now your Alliance Tournament champions three years in a row. HYDRA, who were absolutely trumped by Pandemic Legion took second place, while Darkside and the amusingly named WE FORM VOLTRON took third and fourth places respectively. Pandemic Legion received 50 billion ISK, gold medals all around, and 50 Adrestia Heavy Assault Cruisers for their win. HYDRA took home 25 billion ISK, silver medals for all participants and 50 Utu Assault Frigates. Darkside received 25 billion ISK and bronze medals, and WE FORM VOLTRON received 10 billion ISK for fourth place. Read more about the fateful final match between Pandemic Legion and HYDRA here. Most stupidest alliance tournament I have seen yet, EVE still has not come out of the FOTM state! |

Its ment as a you bring as many guys as you can and ill bring as many guys as I can and lets do it in a blaze of lag and glory gameplay. Just deal with it and move on lol. |

Originally posted by Izure I don't watch the tourney. imo its as far away from the "real Eve" that one could get. people winning awesome shit with so many OP ship builds? Its not for me. My eve used to be hundreds of ships kicking the shit out eachother while a FC screamed his head off at us lol. not this WoW arena shit for rewards and rare ships. MMOs are not Esports. |

Look... I know my opinion on the tourney may seem harsh to some. I fully understand and accept many people enjoy watching/competing in it. IM just worried that one day due to its popularity that CCP may start balancing Eve due to results of these meaningless tourneys. I watched that shit happen with WoW when arenas released. Its not fun to watch everything go to shit because of a Esport. |

Rckgod I completely understand that point of view. I just started playing EVE and also do not want to see that happen. I watched the tournament and did not find it exciting at all. . although as a new player it was good infromation from the comentators as the discussed the ships and their loadouts. Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is! |

Ilike the tournaments simply for the fact that you never know what to expect. There were some serious upsets during the tourny that made the commentators look really bad - like Agony Empire vs Cry Havoc. ^_^ What I did not like was the match that Panda Team lost to Dystopia. Panda should have won that match. In that CCP needs to change the rules of the Tournament so that that doesn't happen anymore. ![]() |

I actually really enjoyed the alliance tournament, and everyone I know who avidly PvPs enjoys the concept and execution of the team sport (along with the thousands of individual connections who tune in to Eve-TV, AND the thousands of hits the youtube reruns get). Instead of huge blobs, and a fight being determined by shear numbers, holding the grid, or locking down a system with gate-camps and bubbles, the AT is about a tight nit, well oiled machine... fleets who have practiced for hours and hours, who've honed their tight setups, who field neat and interesting setups, and truly know PvP. Believe it or not, its closer to real small-gang PvP than you're thinking. This is ofcourse evidenced by the fact that PL and HR were the top finishers, both being credited in game with being some of the most elite PvP pilots there are on TQ. The commentators need some work (with exception of Kil2, he's good), but hey, these are eve players not professional announcers. Myself, I'm either going to compete in one of the teams next tourney, or apply to be an announcer. Cinori Aluben - CSM6 2011 |

Alliance Tournament is not meant to be the "real eve". That's why it's called a Tournament. People who complain about the alliance tournament probably have never participated in it. Or they are bitter because they have participated, but did not do well. Of course there is always a chance that some of the commentors don't even play the game, and are just trolling and saying bad things about it because they have too much time, or they use to play but quit because their expensive ship got blown up. Rockgod99 I bet you are one of these people, because your posts sound like they are driven by bitterness more than anything. I doubt you would be here complaining if you came in 1st - 3rd place in the alliance tourney. Every team starts out with an equal chance to win. Their choice of fittings and their piloting skills determine what happens next. Think about it for a second: If the alliance tournament is just a bunch of people flying over-powered ship builds........then why didn't the losing alliances also fly overpowered ship builds and..........win instead of lose? It's a combination of ship choice, fitting choice, piloting skill, and luck. |

Major win for CCP and EVE with close to 25000 viewers! The combat was as good as any tournament I've seen. The final bout was one sided, and one team was able to advance without actually winning their match. Other than that, the rounds were filled with determined teams and strong PVP'ers going all out to win. Strong determined teams with original fits and ship selections = Big Win! |

Teala, not sure why Panda should have won there. Dystopia lasted through and went ahead on previous matches, no? I got tired of watching the Legion chasing the Loki to be honest, lol. It was a "tie-breaking" thing I thought in the end. As for the Alliance Tournament, I hate it - heh, cause it always makes me want to resub. It is fun to watch. Some years better than others, but whenever somebody pulls off a "hero" - it gets the blood pumping. I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again? @Someguynamed You're mistaken. You may think it's bitterness but i've already stated its more worry than anything. I have no issue with the tourney as long as its seen as a meaningless tourney and should not come into play when considering ship balance. So far CCP has held up there end, they know the tourney isnt Eve. So they havent shown anything for me to believe they will break the game to balance it for that activity. I have nothing against the competitors, the viewers or anyone that thinks its cool. I have nothing against the tourney it self as long as its level of importance stays as is. it's simple as that, don't balance my game as an Esport and im happy. |

Originally posted by Rockgod99 The reason that I think its bitterness, is because there is never an indication that CCP will change the game based on the Alliance Tournament. They've never done it in the past anyway. So what makes you think they will do this in the future? Now, if were not bitter and jealous, why would you be putting in an effort to complain about something that's not there, and has no indication of happening? |

Originally posted by Someguynamed Someone asked me if I watched this years tourney and i told them no and why I didn't. Then i went on explaining why I felt the way I did before I got jumped on in this thread. My worry is they will start looking at tourney balance because Pandemic has won three years in a row. a couple more years like that and CCP will be scratching their heads wondering what they could do to improve their most watched and talked about event. Honestly, I would have never brought up my worry of Esport balancing if someone didnt ask me if i watched the tourney or not. |

I loved the Alliance Tournament, and it might not represent fleet battles in EVE, but it does represent small gang engagements to a fair degree. With even numbers :) Jacmert Corra'Halcyon - "Jesus Boy" |
