The first shipment of vehicles is about to arrive on Calypso, shortly after VU 11.2 goes live First Planet Calypso officials will travel around the planet and hand out free vehicles to people they meet so be sure to  keep an eye out for them.

One silly observation I made is that the post doesn't say motor vehicles. While I suspect we'll be seeing something like the humvees previously spotted during the outlander event, it wouldn't shock me to be handed a unicycle (L). LOL

In any case, Multi-passenger vehicles would make the PvP zones (and landgrab) pretty interesting!  :)

To celebrate the arrival of vehicles to Planet Calypso and the Entropia Platform, FPC Official Avatars will travel around Calypso directly after MindArk’s 11.2 release, giving out free vehicles to colonists they meet along the way. MindArk’s 11.2 release is tentatively expected on June 21.

Only 1 vehicle per avatar will be allowed, and the offer will be available only while stocks last. Rumor has it though, that stocks will be plentiful :-)

 

Here's some additional info I pulled from several of Marco's posts on EF:

Event freebies will be (L) and at max value. All cars in the event will be of the same type and model.  Presumably  these will the the 17 PED model Marco mentioned.

No garages with 11.2, but Marco's answer to the question implies they may be developed later.

There will be some landscaping to accomodate vehicles in 11.2.

At least some vehicles will be multi passenger.

In car radios will not be an option at 11.2

They will use oil for fuel.

 All cars can be customized using the coloring and texture systems.
 

...and the servers are down for uprev. Estimated return to service is 1100 UTC.

Gave up for this morning. The guides are moving from site to site.

Marco did state on EF that they will be timing the appearances so US folks have a shot at it. He also said they are giving out a finite number at each location.
