Someone got one of my old WoW accounts today and tried for my AoC account, a couple days prior a friend got his main WoW account hacked after he let it go idle. Week before that a guildie had the same thing happen. Anyone else notice an increased number of hack attempts latetly? Malware and a few other programs say I'm "clean" and it looks like they got mine through my email anyways, just seems odd out of the millions of players playing people I know to be PC savvy are suffering an increased amount of attacks.

It seems the game devs have realized that people *like* to cheat, so they're not doing a lot to prevent it. Almost every game I've played in the past year has either been a homogenized POS or so full of hackers and exploiters I end up ragequitting. /sigh

There's demand because of lazy players that want to buy their way through the game. Though, in more recent years it's become harder to actually profit from farming gold in many MMOs. As such, it's become much more lucrative for them to just hack accounts enmass and sell what they pillage from their victims to the lazy slobs that want to pay to cheat.

My WoW-account was hacked twice during the last year, allthough my account went inactive some 2 years ago allready. I took notice of the hacking going on, as an old bud asked me, if I'm playing again. :lol: It's not malware or spyware that leads to the hacking of accounts, it's the crap combined game and forum-logins on every other site and stuff like battle.net that leads to an increased amount of account-hacking.... It actually got easier and easier during the last years to hack accounts. All you need is a email-adress and bruteforce.
