I've actually enjoyed the Zones of EQ, gave them more of a distinct feeling as you went from one to another. I would also love to see the Public Quest system from WAR added along with the LFG Dungeon Finder from WoW, also an expansion on the LDoN expac with it being opened up to player made missions, with tight controls to ensure it does not get exploited along the same lines as the Architect missions did in CoH/V. No cash shops, AH's taken from EQ2 not WoW (could never understand why there had to be a time limit on an item when you put it up for sale in WoW) NO fast travel system as it makes the world so much smaller. |

Instancing didn't exist back when EQ came out, the point is, even if this is a wishlist, why are people wishing for things which aren't what made EQ great?
I have no problem with the wishes, but they aren't going to bring back the EQ feeling if they have any of those in it, it will be something completely different then. Not a bad thing perhaps, but you should decide what you want... A return to EQ's glory days with modern technology or VG done right? |

My only wish for EQ3 is that it wasn't being under SOE's command, SOE FAILS. |

My wish for EQ3 1. No instances. 2. Vast open world like Vanguard. 3. The world to be made whole again. 4. The Moon aka Luclin to be made whole again. 5. I want my freaking Val Shar Beastlord Back. 6. I want my Black Skinned Erudite back. 7. Yup i know people will say "what" well i want the Bazzaar back without the lag. 9. Mid to top end graphics, let WOW and SWTOR have the low end graphics, EQ3 will be a niche game. 10. I want community to be bought back into mmorpg, if it means mana breaks and corpse runs then so be it. 11. I want instant travel to be wiped out, yes let a Wizard or a Druid provide those services it brings community together. 12. It can't get here quick enough. The developers stated years ago that making EQ2 as a sequal was a mistake. They said MMO's don't need sequals as you can just continue to grow the gameworld. So I don't think there will be an EQ3. My hope is that they apply the depth of features from EQ2 to EQ1. But give EQ1 an entirely new graphics engine with new music, sounds and voice over. That's really all they need to do. EQ1 with the latest features from MMO's would be a huge deal. Tribes 2 is back!!!! http://www.tribesnext.com/ |

Originally posted by LotosSlayer Keep in mind EQ2 launched first. And alot the features WoW has added since have been features that EQ2 had first. The only thing i've seen EQ2 copy from wow is battlegrounds. But also one could say WoW is a polished version of EQ1. Hell they even share alot of the same keyboard commands. Yeah um, Vanguard tried all that and flooperoonies. I seriously hope SoE has a better plan than most of you guys do. |

Lets say they reskin'ed EQ1... For those that had played the game - You would already know all the zones - You would already know all of the classes - You would already know the quests Those things that were not like EQ1 people would complain about. Those things that were like EQ1 people would complain about. I don't really see this happening, it's a great ideal, but EQ1 for those that played it is lightning in a bottle. You're never going to recapture that world in that moment in time with those friends. I would be satisified if EQ3 was a well designed MMO with plenty of content, but carried the flavor of the original EQ's. |

POK books were the downfall to EQ. Instant travel killed it for a LOT of people. It made port classes worthless and divided the players up. They do the same thing in EQ2 when you can just click a bell and travel to 10 different places in a city and not have to hardly run anywhere yourself. There were a lot of good things about VG but also a boatload of issues. EQ3 should have the best graphics, yes, just like EQ2 had when it surfaced, and VG as well. Character customization needs to be added. EQ2 wasn't bad but there still wasn't a whole lot that you could do. For gods sake let elves have beards! VG had cool flying mounts, I like that. I like free reign of the ground and skies. Its EQ so you know the world will be huge and having such things won't ruin it, but 1 click teleportation available to all is nonsense. I agree with a previous poster that said class DISTINCTION. This was fucked up royally in EQ2. With the good and evil versions of each class, they basically had the same spells with different names and different spell graphics up through mid-game until they got a few unique ones. I've always appreciated the fact that EQ has said fuck class balance this is the way it is. It allowed them to have plenty of diversity with the sheer # of classes it had. Its boring playing a game like WoW that is built solely on class balance, so you can only have 6 classes in the damn game or its a big mess. If you are a priest, you heal and protect others, you don't dish out fuckloads of damage. Instancing, no thanks. Only in the case of zone overload by too many players. I agree with as few servers as humanly possible. Technology has changed a lot since 99 and 30 EQ servers with a max load of 2k players. Everyone wants to feel like they are a hero, and able to change the world they play in. I feel that if you go to a bandit camp and kill that camp of bandits, it should be gone until more bandits come and rebuild the camp. Say as part of a quest you have to kill a camp of bandits, and burn down their structures, their base. I hate how games just let all of that stuff re-pop on a timer with no consequence. I think it would be cool if more bandits physically came and began rebuilding and setting that camp up again. Its essentially a realistic re-pop. I can dream. SPELL EFFECTS! EQ is the king of them. Bigger, bolder, everyone loves the Spell FX and sounds in EQ. Keep it coming. Gods! Bring them back to the game. Make them nearly invincible with lots of hard, multi-group guild related quests to earn a match against a God of Norrath. Zone revamps. When you have a game that goes through multiple expansions, you leave old world content never to see it again. EQ is notorious for this. New expansions bring new newbie leveling areas, the old ones are left behind. Change this. If you release content for levels of all players in an expansion, you could take an old world lower level zone and revamp it. Something happened in the lore and now the land has been plagued with x y and z and it has higher level mobs, etc. Don't let the old world simply perish. |

Originally posted by Celestian Vanguard also had little to no name recognition. I remember Everquest Commercials on TV, never saw one for Vanguard. You cannot blame that games failure on its choices in game design, it simply had a bad release and got no hype. That and a lot of people didn't really like the character models. I actually made a RL friend out of EQ1. You want to know how? I was camping an item, god knows what (forgot, it's been a long time). This item however spawned only once after a server restart. This guy came by, asked me nicely if I was camping and he offered me help against any blitzers. He stayed with me through the server restart. We kept chatting about all kind of stuff, I got my item and we went on a Mammoth mez spree... People were in Awwww to see two druids with 2 Mammoths following like darling pets :o)
His kids now call me "uncle...".
Can you imagine something like it happening with today's MMO?

Vanguard never had no Val Shar. Vanguard never had a Luclin moon. Vanguard never had Eurdites. Vanguard never had a Bazaar. Vanguard has a vast open world , no one was unhappy with that. Vanguard has no instances except the 6 instances of APW, no one was unhappy with that. Vanguard has mid to top end graphics, yes it was buggy to start with but has since improved greatly, take this recent vid made on five year old system, with a AMD Athlon X2 4800, 2GB RAM, and NVIDIA 7900GTX 512MB Video Card with Rendering Quality on High, Textures on Medium-High, and Shadows on High. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JFrW_dQRPM Look nice to me. Vanguard always had some form of instant travel but many didn't like it when riftways were bought in,some even left. Having two classes with great transport spells would go down well IMO. Vanguard has corpse runs and xp lost,it really isnt an issue as many, if not all players agree it brings a certain type of risk back into mmorpg that is seriously lacking with todays risk free concept. Vanguard still has down time and it's not a problem. People left Vanguard because of the bugs not because of the format, that was something nearly every follower was looking forward to. EQ3 would be a niche game that offers the old style of doing things with some of the new models like quest markers and mid to high end graphics. I reckon SOE would listen to us. Oh man, after reading all of this ... What I want or do NOT want for EQIII: 1. I don't care about boxes, I download my MMO's or just buy the key. 2. Please little voice-over - because I want a localized version and voice over is just too expensive to keep going with a lot of text. Add to that please right from the start a system that is NOT relying on hard coded text and easily translated in languages with more complex grammar (no offense intended) then english. 3. Abandon the idea that HUGE structures/mobs/plants equals "awesome". Blowing something up (I just saw "Halas reborn" *sigh*) is just a sign that you have too little creativity or ressource to cover a bigger place with something INTERESTING 4. I'd love to have less loading screens then EQ2, especially the older areas, housing etc. 5. Give us some kind of commissions board (kind of the opposite of the consigner, you set up what you want and what you'd pay and who comes first ... just crafts it and puts it inside a box or whatever, instant payment) 6. Allow some kind of socketing so crafted items can be modified afterwards in terms of properties 7. Housing where you can decide yourself where to put rooms, where stairs etc. Adding a room or floor can still make it more expensive but allow more customization please. 8. I have so many mounts I like in EQ2 but once I have a faster one ... no use to cling to it anymore. Why can't we train our mounts or feed them "booster" or such instead of having replacements all the time? 9. Way more quests that involve traps, puzzles, cinematics, transformations, tricks - the event quests from EQ2 since around a year are great! Some jump'n run stuff is awesome too 10. Less competition between Station Market and carpenter crafting class. C'mon, that is ridiculous. -.- Apart from that ... I'm pretty happy with how EQ2 plays out today. :)
Edit: Oh and ... 11. Make the crafting more of a strategy game and not just waiting for the errors to pop up. Vanguard was nice in that. 12. Give us a diplomacy sphere as in Vanguard, that was AWESOME. |

Something that has to do with "relying on the community..." or "Go to Freeport, people there are better than those of Queynos...". In this case, what made FP better than Q, for this guy??? I still can't tell, but it was magic! |

Originally posted by gavving Not really. EQ1 didn't really have a quest system even though there were quests. I only know a fraction of them. And it's been so long I can't remember everything. And while I also know the classes if you give them modern mechanics and effects they can still be new and interesting. Tribes 2 is back!!!! http://www.tribesnext.com/ |
