You can switch between 2 weapon sets even when in combat, and you even can use environmental weapons (awesome) on top of that.

I'm bummed about secondary professions going away. To me, that's one thing that really made GW1 stand out from other games.

I'm unsure about this constantly changing skill bar. Having skills that change based on what weapon is used, which hand it's in, whether you are near a seige weapon...well that seems a lot to keep track of.

But, GW1 gave me a lot of faith in ANet so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

actually at the beginning 2nd professions where in, but somehow they cancelled them in favour of other things...

As long as there is enough variety in a class its okay with me.

But i have a large weapon rack in back order allready, need a good place to store all those weapons with special abbilities that are needed for special abbilities.

In GW you have 8 apells/abbilites on your bar, in GW2 you have 5 abbilies on your bar and another 5 on your weapon set  and another 5 on your backup weaponset , so you travel with 15 abbilities available to you as 2 weapon sets can be swapped mid combat.  Add to that the new environmetal weapons and you have a lot of possibilities...

They give the example of using a bolder or a siege weapon as environmetal weapon,  but the possibilities are endless, imagine it being able to use a rhino or other mount upon using it you mount it and have 5 abbilites used for mounted combat.

The "new" secondary profession seem to be, from what the post said, your race. You will be able to pick both skills and elite skills from your race. Additionally the reduction seems to be there in order to make people put heavier focus on team-synergy. Instead of me being W/E and using Static Bullet and firing into it, it will be me and and a team mate doing this together.

The, in my opinion, most interesting part about it all was the quick mention of how the professions will be spread out. Three scholar classes, three adventurer classes, and two soldier classes. Looking at Guild Wars (1) you could essentially say that there were 2 solider professions (Paragon, Warrior), 3 adventure professions (Assassin, Ranger, Dervish (although Dervish could potentially be a soldier class too)) and as much as 5 scholar professions (Monk, Elementalist, Ritualist, Mesmer, Necromancer). Ritualists were very unfocused and without a clear playstyle, which makes them unlikely to feature in GW2. Dervishes and Paragons both suffered from somewhat the same problem, however I'd not count out either. Assassin is so and so, it didn't really fit GW(1), but so far too little is known about GW2 to be able to say anything about it.

Warrior and Elementalist are given. That leaves 2 scholars, 3 adventurers and 1 soldier. Ranger is extremely likely to be a profession that carries over due to it's extreme popularity. It will however be interesting to see if it will focus more on bow or pet, I'd believe bow but that's just guessing. One of the scholar professions I'd say is going to be the Monk, it's not as likely as the Ranger. I believe the Monk will then be more focused on offense through their belief, think half-dervish half-monk.

That reduces it to 1 scholar, 2 adventurers, 1 soldier. The final soldier depends on how the Warrior is played: will it be a offensive or defensive profession, will tactics and battle cries be more important? Regardless I'd say that an alternative to the Warrior will be the other soldier profession. Should the Warrior be a fairly defensively focused (although still with strong offense) then I would believe that the other soldier profession is going to be more of a buffbot. A paragon fighting in the frontlines, a commander of the battlefield.

The final scholar class (assuming that Monk transfers over to GW2) is much trickier however. Since that leaves both Necromancer and Mesmer from GW1, two classes that both were with from the beginning and both were of significant use. However I believe a merge will take place here making this profession an interruption (unsure how significant this will be in GW2, but since it's a big part of GW1 I believe it will continue to be if not as important, then at least fairly much so) and curse (debuffing) heavy one.

For the last 2 adventure classes I got no real idea, but one could potentially be the Assassin. The last one could be a pet one, or just about anything else... Either way this is what I believe we will see:

  • Scholar profession 1: Elementalist (confirmed).
  • Scholar profession 2: Monk. A more offensive one, kind of as a combination between Dervish and Monk. May move be an adventure profession instead.
  • Scholar profession 3: A combination of Mesmer and Necromancer. Curses and Interruptions that will make you cry.
  • Adventurer profession 1: Ranger. Popular and loved.
  • Adventurer profession 2: Possibly Assassin. Focusing on dodging and parrying rather than heavy armor to survive.
  • Adventurer profession 3: Pet focused profession? No idea really.
  • Soldier profession 1: Warrior. Has pretty much been confirmed.
  • Soldier profession 2: A Paragonish Warrior, standing in the frontlines and encouraging team mates through battle cries.

i think it looks more and more like monk is out, first because of the dedicated heling skill all has to bring. And second it has been mentioned that sylvari racial would be heling oriented, and third it would fit that Areananet do something to change the GvG situation where 3 monks is the standard out of 8.

this leaves necro and mesmer in
