Hello everyone we are beginning  Project Restoration, I myself and a few friends are contacting VWorlds, Farlan Entertainment, and NPcube and to Restoring DnL as a Free To Play Game, though we may need Donations in order to obtain a server, this is only a option as of the moment when we figure out ideas then we'll talk about financing and costs to get the servers up and running, otherwise we'll be using a regular dsl connection for development. We'll also be patching and fixing all of the things that may have needed work everyone interested in helping is appreciated, but only certain people will be picked out in order of the safety of the scripts.
This is only a voluntary job and you will be credited in helping with the game, when we re'release it.

All support is greatly appreciated. I have made a forum so everyone may talk on and help out. Encouragement is greatly appreciated, maybe it will convince the companies we do really want to continue the existence of Dark and Light.

The project is being conducted to bring back a dead game so players may enjoy it instead of letting it die on the web, it still seems like it could have great potential for the present and future of game making, later talks may be held in order to create more servers and expand it for later.

i know this might never work. but that does not mean its not worth a shot at it.

maybe we will find out who owns or has the DNL server so we can at least start our own servers.

You might want to do this first before talking about donations.  VWorld has no claim to DnL and the other two are defunct.

Even though this game was riddled with bugs,crashed constantly due to having an ATI video card it is still to this date the most immersive mmo i've ever played.There was no other feeling then hang gliding.Exploring the huge world.We fell in love with the great potential this game had.

If this game was fixed and free to play with a graphics update it would thrive.

Always applaud people with a vision, but considering the legal issues surrounding the game and companies inolved, this will likely not happen. On the oneside you have Pix, who wrote the engine, on the other Farlan who allegidely stole it and well, the whole thing is a big big mess. Not even sure if the lawsuits are all settled now, but eiher way I highly doubt you will get anything from either company. As others said, the company that owned the art assets etc doesnt even exist anymore, afaik..

But there would be other ways for you to get going in MMO development, I guess (Realmcrafter etc).
