Hey everybody at mmorpg.com! I've been browsing this site for awhile and always wanted to get into mmo's and finally decided to take the plunge. From what i hear it's a sad time for the genre but what the hell. So for my first choice I've decided to go with WoW. I hear it's one of the best mmo's to start with because it's newbie friendly, etc, etc... Since this si my first real go at mmo's i figured i would look for a guild to join. =) So if anyone has some suggestions on a guild or there own guild i could join i would be grateful. Thanks! |

Hey Naxamus, I wouldn't worry about what other people say about the genre. That will ultimately be up to you to decide. Any type of media will always have its naysayers and supporters. So don't allow people to sway you one way or another. Yes, WoW is a good game and can be a great game for a starter. Just know that not all games are like wow and they all have their stengths and weaknesses (like wow of course). Since being in a good guild can make or break the experience for you I would do a lot of research and also search on the main site. find a group that have people who are interesting to you and who are active. If they have a website and forums then sign up and learn a bit about them. Anyone can make a guild and there are a lot of well meaning people out there who might be considered good guild leaders. However, it takes a lot of dedication to make a guild work and so many of them come and go. Good Luck and have fun. |

WoW is huge as far as population goes and there are thousands of guilds to pick from. As this is your first venture into MMORPGs, my recommendation would be to find some people who you enjoy playing with, rather than researching a guild that has all the bells and whistles. Just log in (14 day trial, for example) and create a character. Approach people within your level range, run a few quests with them and see what happens. IMHO enjoying the company is far far more important than being part of a well-oiled raiding guild. Get into the game. Later on you can do all the hard-core stuff with your second or third char. In the beginnig: Just have a good time! And as to reading forums: Don't! There is so much bickering and general jerkiness on these forums, it may actually detract from your enjoyment :) |
