MMORPG.com's Richard Aihoshi takes a bit of a different spin on his column this week, offering us six questions to test our MMO history knowledge.

well i am proud to say, that even tho i am spending a lot of time reading about mmorpg, i didnt know answer to any of the questions :) reason is, that i am interested in mmorpgs itself and their features, not so much in people who makes them, info about they revenue etc. :) ben |

I agree with the 2 above me. Lets have some trivia about the games themselves, now that could be fun. Maybe. |

I agree, to readily know the answers to these questions, one has to be interested in the MMO industry rather than the MMOs themselves... So this looks to be a better trivia quiz for the industry professionals than it is for the gamers. :) Oddly then, though I'm not of the industry, I've found I was right or close enough with most of the answers. Interestingly the only one I had absolutely no idea about was the one on Wizard101, the sole question that had to do with the game itself... Well, I guess I'm having more fun with the history of the industry than I'm having with its products! :) |

Im with the rest of the guys here. I dont really care about what goes on backstage. All I care about are the games and playing them. So lets have a real mmorpg trivia about the games themselves, and not about side shows.

Lol, Mr Aihoshi can't get a break around here.
If he rails for F2P he gets ripped(I am one of the guilty here).
If he takes a break and submits a decent light reading article, he gets ripped.
For what it's worth Mr. Aihoshi, I found this article a refreshing change of pace from your usual "F2P is teh r0x0rz!!!11, if you don't agree you're in denial" posts.
I answered two of the questions correctly btw.

That was VERY interesting...at least to me. Great write up. I really enjoyed reading it and learned a lot. I didn't know even ONE of the answers. :) President of The Marvelously Meowhead Fan Club |

Q: What was the most effective way to kill an AFK macroer who was locked up in their house in Ultima Online? A: Vas Corp Por Bonus points for knowing what that actually means. Hooray for game trivia! :-) |

Well, not being an insider I know none of these answers. I came close to the wizards 101 from reading an article about the game today at lunch. I had no idea who the guy was tho:( I liked the article anyways as its sometimes fun to learn about things you had no idea about. |

Originally posted by Benedikt Same here. I didn't know the answer to any of those questions, and I only really cared about one of them. I think the title for the trivia should change and include the word "industry" in it. This isn't about the game at all really except one F2P question that still had personal info in it. If the title was changed, there might be more interest from the people who actually care abotu this stuff and probably less flack from the people coming here thinking this was about MMOGs. parrotpholk-Because we all know the miracle patch fairy shows up the night before release and sprinkles magic dust on the server to make it allllll better. |

I only knew the question about NCSoft and Lineage's profit in Korea, didn't get the 2nd part of that answer.
A fine article. Aihoshi writing about F2P games can get tedious to read sometimes to be completely honest. I just don't like that he tells me that I should be willing to give up my expected quality standards, and he says that kinda stuff often. Too often. If we don't expect quality Richard, then we will never get better games. |

I wasn't calling anyone out, rather speaking in generalities.
Reading Mr. Aishoshi's columns on a regular basis, he gets taken to task often for his F2P rants here. I found it nice that he changed up this week, yet still had detractors. It just goes to show that everyone likes different things and that is a good thing IMO.
