Just wondering.... is this a joystick flight game or trading and economy? I have had someone tell me at length about how cool it is and now I am looking to get a cool new joytick and would love to have a game that uses that (preferable an MMO even). I am dreaming of something like the old Wing Commander. Help pls? ty! |

EVE is not joystick game. saying it's just trading and economy would be an understatement. it's a bit of everything. take a free trial and see for yourself. |

I just started about 10 or so days ago, having never played anything like it before and I have to say, I am loving it, there is a learning curve but lots of friendly people to help you, needless to say i subbed a few days ago, try it out, it's like nothing you have played before mmo wise but it certainly is fun/interesting/challenging and a refreshing change from the " norm" "All expectation leads to suffering" Buhhda |

Did you ever see any of the ships in Star-trek TV series being pilotted by a joystick ?... its that way for a reason!
The only joystick operated flying vessels are small one or two man 'figheter' styled vessels and since the smallest vessels in eve are said to require approximatly 40 crew (frigates) then no.... there wont be any joysticks.
Ships in Eve are massive, not only that you have to operate all the systems by your self, some ships have like 20 different modules you need to activate, let along controlling 5 remote drones, controlling your speed and using scanning equipment... sorry, but you just cant use a joystick for space ships like these.. your litereally controlling small flying citys.
Thats why you have a ships 'captain' he sits in a chair and issues orders to the crew.... in Eve your brain is basically plugged into all these systems layed out for you in a conveinient array of buttons, your the captain and the crew in one. |

you can also try to watch in-game videos uploaded by eve players on youtube for example to see whether it suits your needs or not. |

Originally posted by Rykav EVE is not for you, don't waste your time. People like to think that anyone will eventually like the game if they try it, but I've seen more than a handful of people like you who want a space game that has joystick control, and EVE is absolutely not it. In EVE, you don't actually move. You tell your ship what to do and it does it for you. You don't actually fire your weapons, you tell it what weapons to fire and it does it for you. That's a simplistic view on it, there is a ton of strategy involved but it's absolutely not a twitch based game in any shape or form for any part of the game. |

Originally posted by sadeyx Actually, the frigates only require afew ppl to operate. Capsule technology reduces necessary crew size significantly. Also, the frigates evolved from early Fighter designs. Basically they just added more armor or shielding and called them frigates. Some of them don't even require anyone except for the capsuleer. But you do make a good a scathing point about joysticks. Anybody hoping for fighter pilot controls in EVE is looking in the wrong place. Gunther Nhilathok Roses are red. |
