Its not about individual skills, its about different roles in the battlefield for each fighters. In DF, all players are MeleeTankerArcherMageSupporter. The only individuality you see in DF between player is grind time spent, player skill and thats it. You see anyone taking bone armors or Scale armors.
If you are a mage you are not a good tank, ever. Tanks wear scale or better armor. A mage wearing this type of armor is pretty useless. Also, no one beats a true destroyer playing as part of a team. The reality is that many games have classes, where you can log into your shaman, your cleric, your warrior, your hunter. Darkfall has roles. Based on the gear and specialization you will play the role you wish. You can be an artillery mage, a support mage, an archer/melee, a pure melee.

When you compare "vision" of MO and DF - MO wins hands down. But MO is on it's second year of development - and delivering all promised features (those mentioned on IRC) will take anywhere between 6 to 7 years. And DF is quite fun game to play while waiting for MO to realize it's potential :)

When i see youtube videos, i see players go melee, archer and mage at the same time. Even if they wear bones or scale, they go melee while they face a big crowd. A mage in any other game would die quick in that type of situation. I also talk about the DF vets who got a load of skills and playstyle. I dont see anyone wearing full plated in DF, Played DF trial for 2 weeks none stop. Check out my pvp video during trial.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJnU_JEqKRM |

LMAO you don' even realize that you use wands to heal. this is NOT going mage. Also, even destroyers have access to limited magic lines. Again, this is NOT going mage.
Dude, if you haven't even played the game or understand the game mechanics just stop posting. |

Just to enlighten you....casters wear bone armor to reduce the chance of spell fizzle. Yeah, they can go melee if someone gets in close, but in that flimsy armor, they are still going to die fairly easily when fighting a pure melee player in plate or inferno (for example) with r60 keened weapons. I've been on both ends of the spectrum. I played an "indestructible" spec for a long time (instead of destroyer, since a lot of casters switch to melee at close range...I found that the ability to have higher magic resists allowed me to close the gap with more health remaining, and was more useful than doing extra damage to someone with a staff out...since they rarely had a staff out by the time I was swinging at them), and now for a change of pace am playing a caster. Half of the fight as a caster is simply trying to keep the pure melee types away from you. If a pure melee gets close, yer gonna die, 8/10 times. That bone armor might as well be paper. |
