My own health?  Are you in some way threatening me with bodily harm?

People HAVE asked.. repeatedly... for clarifications.  The answers are vague.. as I linked.

I guess the CS guy "Shady" is busy or something...

No- He's not threatening you.

He is a realy hardcore defender of all SV does but hes not a "bully" (if that makes sense).... Thing is I think he's really sincere in his blatant defending of all of SV's descisions. I dont think he's trolling although I did at first, but very serious.

To each his own I suppose. Hope the game works out for him and the buisiness practices of SV pay off for the supporters. =/

Not sure where "my health" comes into the picture then... but anyhow...  I am off to DisneyWorld in 30 minutes so I'll be looking forward to returning to continue the discussion!

Starvault's reponse to criticism related to having a handful of players as the official "test" team for a supposed MMO: "We've just have another 10ish folk kind enough to voulenteer added tot the test team" (SIC) This explains much about the state of the game :-)

The problem here is that it's going to catch a lot of people out. Had I pre-ordered MO then it certainly would have caught me out, and it seems like a few people here would have been too. That can only end badly once people realise what's happening and start trying to get refunds back, and it's a completely avoidable and unnecessary nuisance.

To be honest, I'm just glad I never gave them my card details. I can see this going the same way as DnL with people having to sue the company for continuing to charge them months after they cancelled their account.

Assuming it is the same  Gobwar from the MO forums he is a fan for sure but has always posted fair responses.  I most say I no longer share the enthusiasm though.  The Devs come across as caring about their game and supporters. . then they make this decision.  It will all be put to rest one way or another soon enough.

Same here- I lost my enthusiasm about a Month, Month and a half ago- Two weeks sgo (or so) I gave up completley. Really sad because I was a supporter and really wanted to love this game... Hell, this was the game I had been waiting for since UO. But theory and good ideals is different than practice and implementation and with the shoddy CS and really bad communication and pile upon pile of excuses- Well....

I think he was referring to your stress level.   I am sure DisneyWorld will help.. . depends how many kids are going and whose they are.    I don't think he meant it as a threat.

Disneyworld would elevate my stress level. Screaming kids and diaper changes and fat ladies wearing far too little clothes... Amsterdam is where ya wanna go.  =P

Thanks for the heads up OP.  Just disabled the recurring payment.  Just wish they would give my money back for a product I still have not received.

In light of this I'm sure SV will revisit their policy.  There's really no way to defend it.

Thats my hope...

I'm looking forward to a post from SV stating 'Of course we would never charge you a recurring fee unless you actively chose to do so'...

We will see!

And that is why it is of the utmost importance to bring this to light... So this "oversight" can be fixed. =P

OK so let me get this straight  the evil god like overlords that rule the land  have decided that you will be born into there world when THEY say so and carve out your own destiny WHEN its convenient for them?

That is so HARDCORE

But seriously I'd never sign up to this game with that type of system, I want to play when I'm ready to play not when the system tells me I have to play.

Don't know if you can run it?

https://account.mortalonline.com/order/choose_product.php

For those of you that pre-ordered, a place to put in CC information on monthly recurring subscriptions would be at the above link. After selecting 1/3/6, you are asked to choose what payment method you would like.

I believe this will change what account/card is being billed, but it will likely order you the game-time now.... which probably isn't an issue if you intend on going past the first free month. Just place that order sometime before your free month expires.

If you don't intend to go past the first free month, just set your "status" to "Do not renew"  on the Details page and you are good to go.

I've requested that they display the CC Information on the details page so people know which account/card is being charged.

From what I have gathered, SV is conducting illegal business practices and they will be sued soon because they are going to be charging people monthly that they never signed up for.

Well at least I can claim there is some justification to my paranoia on reoccurring billing.  After a satellite radio manged to renew for 3yrs on a credit card with a expired date I tend to avoid putting in a credit card for anything that can say I agreed to some auto rebill.

I think everyone has seen those credit card offers and  checks that if you cash sign you up for stuff.  They depend on people being stupid enough to not read the fine print.  In this case I guess the big question is was the fine print ever disclosed.

Although it costs more money i tend to use gamecards for game time  if possible and prepaid credit cards with only the amount of money you put in them.

I am sure you can charge back the credit card but if they fight it you will never be able to prove you clicked some stupid cancel button or sent email.  I am glad  I didn't preorder this I would be calling my credit card company to cancel the card and reissue with a different number.

I guess I will have to be content to wait and see if SV can get over another pothole in their quest to deliver  a game that sound so interesting

I do the same- Prepad cards for nearly everything internet related. Good and wise choice =P

I really dislike SV and their "practices" but I also like to keep things clear.  I did per-order the game and have checked my account.  I believe the 30 days will start at a time of SV's choosing without the control of the player.  My account was set to auto-renew by default without any warning from SV, because at some point previous I gave them my billing info and monthly sub choice.  I logged into my account and turned auto-renew off and that's the end of it.  I will get my 30 days free time and it will not renew.  Any charges appearing on my account would be refused by the bank.

They can do it if you used a credit card, they can't do it if you bought it via paypal.  Paypal has their own subscription billing, that you must accept.  SV can't just take money out of your paypal account.

I think I have solved what is actually going on with SV billing and its as comical and yet sad.  The reason why things are the way they are is because, they have not added any form of long term billing tools as yet, SV have stated they arnt adding the billing system till just before or apon them going gold.

So they thought in their infinite wisdom and experience just to migrate all of the pre-order stuff striaght into billing when they go gold, DUH thats not going to bite them in the ass at all.

Or on the bright side they may stuff that up and no one gets billed, its kinda 50/50 which way that little penny is going to fall.

Moral of this story is, if you run Hospital you hire doctors, if you get more sick people, you hire more doctors, if you want to specialise, you hire doctors for those fields.     I would use programmers instead of the word doctor, but I didnt what to be to obvious huh.

I still like the game gawd dammit, just hire people who know WTF they are doing, it aint rocket science.

PS they said also once game goes gold there will be a cancel sub button....it will be cunningly hidden behind a rabbit on the log in screen, a bit like where's Wally....last part is a joke, there will be a button, dont want to add to any tin foil hat stories, unless there is no button, then go for your lives.

Currently Subbed EVE, thats it after years off MMO play I am reduced to one sub due to the massive levels of CRAP in the market.

Just back from Disney..(great place.. everyone should visit at least once!).  I scanned the MO forums for a clarification but I didn;t see one?  I KNOW they were specifically asked to provide a clarification.  Did I miss it?  Or is it still looking like they are auto-subscribing anyone who pre-ordered?  Even those who never chose a subscription...
