Sure...
It's right on top of the main forum:
www.mortalonline.com/forums/36938-poll-will-you-buy-subscribe-mo-its-current-state.html#post765831
As I said though.. we are pretty much at the point where polls are meaningless. It's time for SV to sink or swim. "I should point out that no other company has shipped out a beta on a disc before this." - Official Mortal Online Lead Community Moderator Starvault's reponse to criticism related to having a handful of players as the official "test" team for a supposed MMO: "We've just have another 10ish folk kind enough to voulenteer added tot the test team" (SIC) This explains much about the state of the game :-) |

Thats the poll... but as THIS poll (the one we are posting in) is titled "How would you rate the open beta thus far?", wouldn't that correlate well with a poll that says "in it's current state"?
Either way though... launch is nearly upon us and all polls can be put aside as we watch to see if SV is able to stay above water or sink.

Not to be a troll, but to be realistic. I do not see this game surviving on their fans alone. There are so many problems that have been there for months, most people who have lives have given up on the game already. People can preorder hoping the game gets better, but from my experience over the last 8 months, the game is going to launch in an unfinished state and the retention rate of the game after a few weeks will be abysmal. No one is going to subscribe to the 2nd month unless they are an extreme fan of the game, 90% of the people that bought the game are not.
Will the game survive? Who knows. 50/50 chance right now, Starvault is out of money and they have to release a broken and unfinished game, no one can deny that.

A game like Mortal with handfull of devs behind it and with private funding (they dont have to pay loans and stuff) can survive with as little as 10k ppl. And I am sure the initial palyerbase will be much higher. After all we are not in the 90s when online gamers where few chosen ones who could afford high speed internet and ubber rigs. Last report was speaking about 85k beta players. So if even 10% of these guys stay as you say (lol) it will be enough. And its not like the game will release and they will stop working on it. During the first month after release we are supposed to get dynamic weather system, more monsters, more stuff to build, more features. Or maybe acording to you once the gamelaunches no more ppl can join it? lol...just lol

I wouldn't count that so many players will stay. Most of them have already run away seing what crap this "game" is.

I rated it 2, since some of the fundamental mechanics are fuctional like moving around, but i'd still say its in early alpha state and nowhere near even closed beta. They still got atleast a YEAR of development ahead of them to even reach their first beta state. Currently playing: MMORPG.com hatefest forums! Waiting for: GW2, ArcheAge, Firefall & TSW Dead and Buried: SWTOR, Darkfall, AO, AC2, Vanguard, CoH/V, EnB, EVE, Neocron, FE, EQ, EQ2, DAoC, FFXI, SWG, WoW, and billions of eastern junks(this includes that horrid Aion, glad i only beta'ed)! |

I love how blind optimism works for the fans of the game. "They will put new stuff in" when its taken Starvault 8 months to barely add anything. The game is still in alpha and now everyone has already realized this.
Again, thank god I got a refund on it. Blind supporters are not the majority and will not keep the game alive by themselves. The majority have already run away in disgust.

I agree with you there, but Dawntide is still in beta and is not going to release soon (or not that I have heard) Mortal is about to release in less than 4 weeks (Q1) But again, MO is still better than Dawntide, that game looks and feels pre-alpha.

The open beta is bad, yes, we know this and Starvault knows this. It is not the state of the game now that matters though, it is how they manage to fix the problems that open beta has made clear. I gave it a 7/10 because even though it is bad now, each and every time there is a patch it gets a little better. Perhaps I am more optimistic than most though, since I was in the very first wave of closed beta and things have changed dramatically since then. The devs *are* still patching and working hard, so try not to judge the final product just yet. Put it away for now and perhaps come back later to see if anything has changed enough for you to give it another try. |

In this day and age judging a beta is far more than simply looking at the game-play or bugs associated with it. You have to look at how cryptic the company has been, you have to look at how much progress has been made during beta. You have to determine whether they're listening to feedback and making good decisions based on it. I can only answer to what I've seen in terms of game-play, which wouldn't be a high mark for sure. Maybe a 1, maybe a little more depending on my mood. However I don't want to vote without the knowledge above. I really don't know how they are performing, as I haven't been playing since my initial OB run. I lost all interest in the game then, though I still like watching the conversation about it. How have they been performing? When you judge the beta, what are you judging it on? These are two very important questions, anyone answering should definitely ask themselves before voting. No matter how you slice it, this is still beta. Which has carried on far longer than the week or so many were expecting. That deserves a mark IMO simply because they are trying, when they don't even have the money for it. Until we know when they are releasing, there's really no telling how the game will perform on launch day. As I said I think it deserves about a 1, when referring to the game, as far as Beta goes I can't really answer.
