im just wondering if anyone knows if the ps3 servers will be worldwide or if they're gonna be split like the PAL NTSC stupidity console users faced with the ps2 jap/usa only FF11O, let alone the joke that Sony pulled with the EQOA game. Apparently if your a ps2 owner who lived in europe you didnt like mmo's

I live in london uk and im assuming that like other ps3 games im gonna be able to play with the continents of N. and S.America the same as (non mmo) online games like e.g.CoD4 or Resi5.

just like ffxi on ps2/pc/X360 this game will have worldwide servers on ALL systems. SO far they are the only company to do multiconsole and all regions mixed.

I don't remeber Europe ever being split (i know they just got it  a lot later) which sucked, but for FFXIV they are having it be a worldwide release at the same time. They even had the only playable alpha of the game just in EU for GamesCom (and also released a ton of info there) So that should be some solid evidence that they give a crap about all regions this time.

In FFXI all regions used the same servers. The only problem with that is they were all stationed in Japan. To balance the latency issue they programed a lag into the game. That's one of the reasons I left FFXI. I hope they try something new with XIV.

Reminds me of all the "omgwtf Nidhawg just popped purple!" /ragequit...

The FPS and lag was indeed horrible, but the first few years I played on PS2, it was pretty reliable.... More reliable than this POS gaming system I bought for 3K. -.-'  I might just pick up a new PS3, badass HUGE HDTV, and call it a day.  Who knows, if SE gets this issue nailed down I might be able to have my cake and eat it too! =D

Why would anyone in and english speaking nation want to play with the chinese or vice versa? I dont think playing with people speaking/typing in chinese would be a lot of fun, not to mention what the text in the game would be like.

Well FFXI has a built in auto translator, so you can talk to people that dont understand your laungue. One of the great things about having mixed servers is the fact that people are on ALL the time, you are never alone (this helps people who work at weird times and can't get on at "prime time")

Another thing is you end up making friends from all over the world. People can speak english in other nations which people end up befriending (of course a lot of people in EU can speak english, so that alone adds more poeple to play with at diffrent times and make friends with)  You could also say it gives it a more realistic feel, the world isn't just made up of english speaking americans. The compition is widened to a world compition, being the first to do things over ANYONE in thw whole world, not just your server in your region (of course it was messed up for FFXI becuase of the JP earlyer release and servers of course) but those will change for FF14.

I'm sure people can agrue for and against this, but its somthing that makes the game uniqe. I have friends in the UK and Italy that i made from this game and it would be sad to not have them around in FF14.

The translator is interesting. I didnt realize it had been done. Yes, I can understand the value of multi-national servers with this implemented.

the translator was never amazing, but you could get the basics across, im hoping FF14 will improve it .
