I agree, but its also kind of in the same boat for those players that spend 100 hours a week playing games because they have nothing else to do so they can be above others as well. I mean whether its a surplus of money or time, theres nothing anyone can really do about it. |

Dungeons & Dragons online style I wouldn't mind, where you get the choice of either subscription or micro-payments. Cryptic style where you have to do subscribe to play and still need to buy content I'd probably think twice. |

No, as I would play no game with an item shop. Almost all F2P games that have an item shop make it seem like you don't need them, "Oh you can buy them but you don't have to, it may just make things go a little smoother." But by endgame items are a necessity and you're dropping more cash 2 to 5 dollars at a time than just a flat 14 a month. Originally posted by GTwander: How are you an MMO? Yes, but it's not exaclty the same. Even if you have a surplus of money, you have to play to get better, you spend time and you are playing the game. I'm ok with people playing a lot, although I support limiting hours played to avoid shared accounts and compulsive players, but this is another discussion, |

Nope, there can be only one or the other - P2P with EVERYTHING available (even cosmetic fluff) or F2P with cash shop - having both is an insult and should not be supported by anyone regardless of the game and publisher. Take a stand guys, because if these MMO dev's get so much as a sniff that's some of you don't mind paying a subscription AND giving more money for extra items they'll ALL be doing it in a shot and it'll be a further slide into the gutter for current MMO's... Pointless fluff items today, skills and important items tomorrow... |

My main issue with cash shops... is they take items that should be say craftable or similar and then they sell them instead. I'm big into crafting... So if the game has no crafting, weak crafting or things I'd want to make in a cash shop there isn't much reason to play.
If they sell XP potions or other thigns for people willing to spend money to level 10% faster (example) more power to them. I will never be that fast to "end game" so I raelly wouldn't care about that. |

If I had to pay a monthly fee+cash shop items then no, I would not play. Cash shop only or subscription only works for me. |

I'll give it the same post launch free trial attempt I plan on giving it now. But yes it would seriously bias me against the game. |

Depends on whether or not the cash ship items gave bonuses that affected game-play. People can buy as many vanity items as they like, but as soon as it affects gameplay, I'm out A witty saying proves nothing. |

It would depend on the status of the game and If I was having fun, If the items that could be bought was just fluff then yeah but will need to wait and see. If the items changed the game play (weapons/armor etc) then I doubt I would do it as having a ubah toon would come down to who has the most cash and not for time invested in the game. |

The game will be a micro-transaction subscription based game and will likely have all the bells and whistles to go with it, that means an item mall. I will play regardless it is bioware and I love all their games. Considering the game will be like Mass effect 2 style of gameplay only entices me to play it more. Going to love the much needed refreshing change to style of online game play. ------------------------------------------ |

Depends on the items for sale on the cash shop. If it's just fluff items, XP potions, and account services like in EQ2 then I have no problem with it. If they expect me to pay a monthly fee while having a cash shop like DDO, then it's a no go. I will not pay "additional" cash for content that is integral to the game itself. |

Yes, 1) Because we will never see a new mmo come out of an established dev house WITHOUT a cash shop being added at some point, as race/gender/name change and server transfers are always called for and have to have some limiting factors for them imo. That is the trend with every new MMO it seems. It will probally take a long time to change it, but i dont consider those services 'bad' at all, not the charging for them. 2) its bioware foo. |
