StarVault AB has announced that their open-world MMOG, Mortal Online, has entered Open Beta!

StarVault is also offering a 5 Euro discount for the digital download version of the game throughout the entirety of the Open Beta phase. A major content patch is also promised to be deployed sometime during Open Beta. The patch will be focused on combat tweaks and balances, but will also add creatures and resource nodes to previously barren areas.

I don't understand why they do not allow the high rez in Open Beta.
The graphic look quite bad at the moment, nowhere near as good as in this trailer.

Anyone knows how to allow high resolution and high quality textures outside of the client option menu?

 I downloaded the file but it says its corrupted. Any ideas?

mmm good views but where are the npc or mobs? The world look empty.

 the npcs are static and are in towns right now. Mobs are spread about everywhere. You dont have to go far to kill something for crafting mats.

The only mobs I found so far are animals, but I cannot find any monsters or humanoid mobs...............

In the jungle there is some lizardmen. I havent been all over the areas as of yet but those I know of.

graphics in that trailer are exactly the same as on my computer, so you are either lying or your pc is messed up.

The graphics look the same on my computer as in the video, also you can edit the games .ini file to up the AF from 2x to 8x or 16x.

Keep looking there are Ratmen, Skeletons, Lizardmen, Terrorbirds, and more.

Is it just me or did that video feel a lot like the Darkfall promotion video that came out about 5 months prior to its release? Even the music had the same feel to it.

Does anyone know how long the open beta lasts?

Depends. I recommend downloading the open beta and trying it for yourself. I say yes its worth it but others will say hell no its not.  Asking here is pointless when there is a free way to check for yourself.

no announcement yet as to how long it will be. I would guess 2 weeks or longer. They are using it as part of the beta process and not just a marketing tool. If they were using it as marketing then there marketing person should be hung from cross and left to die.

It's nice to see an MMO that has a true open beta and is not used as a pre-order marketing gimmick.

I too am getting a corrupted file.  Have tried downloading with IE and Firefox, just in case there was something off.  I also just ran it from the web with no luck.  Are there any other locations to download the launcher?

on their website it says i still have to pay for open beta and that it starts on july20th. can anyone correct me on that? or link it? i really want to try the game.
