Mounts are somehow the quintessence of what many people strife for in MMORPGs. About everyone wants mounts, but each mount you gain after the first one is pretty useless. They have most often the same stats, and if the stats differ, then only by minimal amounts. The only reason what mounts are good for is to run around on them and show off. They don't help your char, they don't help your guild, they're only there to say "look, I got something you don't, I'm better than you". As long as people have fun it's fine of course. But still kinda weird... I mean great weapons that are hard to get often improve your char as well. But mounts? They're completly useless. Let's play Fallen Earth (from launch to present) |

I'm starting to actually gear my level 80 warrior up to a semi decent level, with the drops and the emblems I've been picking up. Sure there are problems, but thats a function of the games success. If you enjoy your console games thats all that matters<shrug>. FFIV looks interesting, but so does Heroes of Telera, and further out Citadel of Sorcery. |

I think the key is that the epics before BC and later WOTLK didn't fare well compared to the new greens and blues, let alone the new epics. WoW is a gear hamster wheel, and many people can't accept that. Its just the nature of these types of games...<shrug> |

relax. this game is still going despite your hate.
and yes the mount will drop once every kill, just like the mimiron head.
it will be rare because very few will be capable to achieve a kill.
simply put it's a reward to the highly dedicated hardcore guilds. My guess is half the servers won't get one at all, while some servers will get several.
I'll probably never see it but that's fine. I know my place.

Holy crap, way to be 100% wrong MMORPG.com writer. From Blizzard: Q. Is the mount available in both 10 and 25 Heroic? Q. Is it a random drop or is it a guaranteed drop?
Next time do just a little bit of research before making a news article. |

Nope, it's like Mimiron's Head. Kill Arthas at the hardest form possible (like featuring some kind of difficulty toggles like Keepers for Yogg-Saron encounter, I don't know the specifics for toggling this "hardest", besides being heroic difficulty) and it's a 100% drop. The challenge is on achieving the result, NOT luck (well, only one of the 25 will get it, so it's still kind of luck or being loved by the raid/guild leader or being one if it's distributed like any other epic loot). To back up my claim, here is the thread in which this information is given out, from the Blizzard forums. Copy and paste it. http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=22748778637&pageNo=1&sid=1#0 I have a rant though. You don't get Frostmourne but instead you forge Shadowmourne, but apparently his horse doesn't share the same luck of being protected from eventually being violated regarding its "unique" status (multiple people flying it a same time).

the sword...is not really his. Ner'zhul made the sword to imprison arthas' mind. and uther says there needs to be another lich king so if you'd touch Frostmourne you'd lose your character...to the new lich king who will be...see below. p.s. i wouldn't have minded the sword...oh well. Lore is lore. the next lich king probably takes the sword. and the helm maybe.

I hope Cataclysm ups the normal leveling content and downgrades a little bit of the highest Pve ánd Pvp rewards (like putting up mounts only available for >0.5% of arena players). I would say that the highest "skill" rewards should be obtainable by at least 2 to 3% of the player base. That 0.5% bracket they are aiming for is out of my league (and about everyone else's). But I agree with the remark: before posting and putting a link to it ... at least read the news yourselves.
Want a real mmorpg? Play WOW with experience turned off mode and be Pve_Pvp King at any level without a rat race. |
