I'm looking forward to Spellborne 2.0, whatever it may be. I enjoyed the original Spellborn, to a point. It lack some essential things last time I played. Most notably, the ability to walk. Yes, you heard me. I find MMO's without the toggle or a key to let me switch between running and walking as incomplete. I am not that savvy in the whole "F2P @ lol quality!" point. Many F2P games these days are actually more responsive and thus more refined as a lot of P2P games.... ok, some games are just distilled grind, but a few games seem to have potential and some even realize this. It has a fresher ideas on story and character. The combat system, though cumbersome at first, just a mater or getting used to, since mostly everyone and their grannies who played MMO's are used to mashing 1 thru 0 to pull off moves. And the architecture and the actual worlds also looked nice. Though a bit cartoony (I'll let that sit for a while). How gear worked was also new and refreshing. Spellborn has a chance of realizing it. And I'll be keeping my eye on it. |

If it will get more content, dungeons and variety plus would hope in some more choice in starting gear sure why not? it's free anyway :P |

You know spellborn started off as p2p right? So it should have been more complete.
But that wasn't why it failed, at least not all of it.
But yeah, it was promising, so I hope 2.0 is what it should have been at the start. |

Just to add, Acclaim is not the ones updating the game. Frogster Asia are the ones who purchased the game from the original company and redeveloped it for F2P. Don't know how much authority Acclaim will have on whats in the item mall. I too will give this another go though as this game had thee best combat mechanics and a decent game world to explore. On top of me being a moderator of course! :P |

If the game just have a larger amount of players, and more end game content I would be totally excited for it ..
But if its just the same as before with a mall .. I'm not really interrested..
Played the OB version, and I was impressed by the innovative part of the game aswel as the fantasy feeling it brought to the player, but the lack of commenty and a reason to keep on leveling kinda ruins it imo.. |

I really loved that game a lot, but I wound up running out of content to partake in. If TCoS 2.0 releases content fixes, then I don't mind an item mall as long as it isn't going to be a game breaking item mall. I've started to look into F2P games, as I've played so many P2P and Im just kind of bored at the moment. I'm realizing that some of them are not so bad. I'm actually excited for Allods especially. But if TCoS releases a better game this time around, even though they're switching to the F2P model, I'll take a look. If its crap, then I'll just disappear again. |

Acclaim was bought out by playdom which doesn't do games like spellborn in otherwords There will be no redevelopment . Its been tossed on the scrape pile and unless a good company like blizzard or someone else buys it and fixes seening that it was a diamond in the rough then It is offically dead. There is no support, the downloader is broke and Now even the work arounds that the dedicated players discovered no longer work so thers no way to even get on, its just a matter of time before someone stops paying the bill for the server. Most likly other companies will see that the mix of MMO and FPS styles that spellborn did is a great platform for a pay to play game and copy the idea, instead of buying and fixing what possiably could have been the best game of the decade.
Spellborn faithful and definetly most notorious player,

In June 2009, the developers of Spellborn, Spellborn Works, went bankrupt. One of the publishers, Acclaim, announced the following month that the game would be re-developed as a free-to-play game supported by microtransactions. The new version would be released sometime after 2010, and until then the free-to-play version would remain active. But now it has been cancelled. Now it will no longer be played by Acclaim or any other company.[4] [edit] |

I loved a lot about the original TCoS, from the visuals and art style to the rotating bar and character development, but it was obvious that it was pushed out at least a year too early and was hugely unfinished.
IF they have used the Asian revenue to fix and improve the game, rather then spending all on generating cash shop crap, then 2.0 could be actually a great MMORPG.
Still, whatever, I am glad it still has life, it's actually a distincitve and imaginative game and world and deserves it. I very probably won't be playing it this time around though with a cash shop tacked on, which is sad. |

oh, I didnt notice that, thats a shame, but thx for pointing it out. TCoS is one of those games I would buy if I won the lottery (along with VG and TR). With love and attention it could still be great. I just took a look at my SS from when I played, and it still looks better GFX wise then pretty much any MMORPG out right now to me. |

Hello, I loved the game followed it while it was P2P and then tried when it went F2P. I loved the concept, the art, the graphics and found the combat unique and refreshing. As long as it isn't a Pay to Win type F2P and a more of a DDO type P2P I"ll give it a shot. With that said, when I played I could and still can play any MMO at max settings with no lag or problems graphically. This was true for all games but Spellborn, and according to the devs at the time it was because the game had issues with my system. Since then I have gotten a new system and hope it doesn't have the same visual lag issues. It was quite frustrating no matter the settings or resoultion it would screw up.

TBh, someone should buy this game, retool it using it's existing assets and adding GW style henchmen, and release it as a single player RPG. With the shardships etc for alternate play in the future Spellborn could be a great little IP. |
