I recieved this email the other day: You asked for more social hubs? Improved graphics? Well, we’ve delivered! Join us for 10 days of free playtime to see our recent improvements! Camps -- Build your own camp in the wasteland to spawn NPCs, a vault and access in-game mail! To access your free 10 days, log into your existing account and click "Play Now." What I was wondering is, why do they need to offer the 10 day trial? How is the game now? How is the population?
A witty saying proves nothing. |

THe game runs much smoother than even a month ago and visually it has improved substantially(although I didn't think it was all that bad to start with).
Populations seem to be on a consistent rise. I made an alt a week ago and the starter towns and following cities are swamped, at least at US prime time. My characters at the higher levels also see plenty of activity as well.
I would say give the 10 day trial a whirl, you have nothing to lose. Einherjar_LC says: WTB the true successor to UO or Asheron's Call pst! |

I tried the trial and didn't figure I would like it since I didn't like fallout much and love high fantasy settings. And what do you know, I ended up buying it. It's quite good. |

If people say this is the best mmo arround then they don't know better. Probably they lack experience with playing mmo's in general because if u read all the comments 1 thing is pretty clear....at lvl 45 the game is over... They should improve the game to pull people into pvp. Maybe they should look at how pvp is arranged in Dark Ages of Camelot (best pvp-game imo). |

And people who say others lack experience with playing MMOs because they enjoy Fallen Earth are naive. If you really want to know how the game is going, do the trial. It's free, requires no CC information and hey, did I mention it's free? Also, I highly recommend you visit the official forums for Fallen Earth and see what the developers are saying about the game. There is a lot coming in, level increase, new sector and overall, more content. There is a Help channel for the beginning levels in which players and GMs are always willing to give advice and suggestions in. There are GMs on 24/7 for any in game issues players may have, as well as making sure players get the help they need when starting out. The forums are the same, moderators and developers are constantly communicating with the community regarding suggestions, upcoming changes to the game and in general, fun chat. There are some bugs with the game, then again, for a game that's been out for 4 or 5 months now, it is what it is. By the players submitting bug reports, the company is working diligently to resolve game issues. Customer service is great from what I've encountered and many others have posted on these forums what a great experience they've had as well. Hope to see more new faces in game! |

Back for the ten day thing. Have a new rig now, there was no way my old laptop was goin g to run it, so never really had a chance to play it till now. Got to say I am enjoying it a lot. Make no mistake this game is rough round the edges and lacks the polish of a triple a title, it has some bugs and lag is a bit a of a problem. But let's remember this is an indie game without the cash or resources of a big publisher behind it. If you can get past that then this game for me is like nothing else I have played before. It has atmosphere and its chalenging. Its a crafters dream and get this, the gm's actualy talk to you in the help channel and support from the community I have found to be very good all round. If you are looking for something highly polished that you want to blast to end game on with typical mmo mechanics I don't know if it will be for you. If you are looking for something diferent, love crafting or sandbox or post apocalyptic fiction then have a go at the trial, like me you may be plesantly surprised. Think im going to sub, am really interested to see were this game is going.
ooops edit, my advice if you are going to play, do the tutorial and the extended tutorial and read everything. Don't say I didn't warn you if you decide not 2.

Yeah, I lack experience in MMO's, lol.
I've been with this genre since UO, and played MUD's before that.
Most of the people describing this game as the best out right now, I would surmise, are people who are about crafting, about the journey, about community, about freedom of classless character customization, about the world they are in and the story about it. Not power gamers who rushing to level cap to be disappointed there is no end game in a 4 month old MMO(shocker huh?). The game is only "over" at 45 if you are one of the afforementioned power gamers. The devs are constantly working to improve the game and a brief stop in to the official forums would show you just where they plan to take the game. There have been several bug fixes already, and a graphics optimization patch. The devs care about this game and it's community and it is obvious by their actions. I wouldn't be at all surprised, as the game evolves, if we saw some type of RvR as factions become more involved. Einherjar_LC says: WTB the true successor to UO or Asheron's Call pst! |

I'm on my 10-day trial right now. I still haven't made up my mind on whether or not to get it but it is still a fun romp and different than anything else I've played. I guess just try the 10-day trial and see for yourself. Me, I'm still trying to figure it out. If anything I just may buy it and add it to my reputoir of MMO's. May have to try this game .Friend was in beta an hated the lag/bugs but sounds as if they are working hard to improve the game. Any details on what's planned for the future?
Just some notes here gathers from time to time from different interviews, not gathered myself but by : http://www.mmorpgitalia.it The future of FE from Lagwar.com: Player Camps and New Construction Tradeskill Constructed buildings, walls, and other structures also have stats. An example used to explain this was if a player built a wall within the range of other structures within a town or camp that correlate with that constructed item, they will interconnect and become a part of that town which will give the items better stats or other benefits like increased town defense. If you built a bank for the town it would then increase the town commerce, but you don’t want to have too much commerce with too little defense, “the raiders may come for the easy pickens.” Hammock also explained that of course the long-term goal would be to allow players to destroy player-built structures which would fall heavily into the PvP side of Fallen Earth, but that side of it depends on technology available, and at this time the development team is still planning the technology for the construction feature therefore Hammock could not guarantee destructible structures will be implemented at launch of the Construction tradeskill or at all. But according to Hammock, the new Construction tradeskill as a whole is being designed with PvP heavily in mind. You can expect the Construction tradeskill to cap out and work very similar to the existing tradeskills that are currently in game. When mentioning whether Construction and Player Camps would come in Patch 1.2.0, Hammock simply stated, “It’s going to be a ways off because we have a lot of things we want to put into it.” Hammock did say that instanced housing would probably be a part of it, but certainly not all of it. He also went on to say that they are currently using around 20% of the map with another 40% planned for story-line leaving 40% for housing space. Pet System Turrets from www.tentonhammer.com sept 9th, 2009 PVP
Sector 1 - Plateau Sector 2 - Northfields Sector 3 - Kaibab Forest Sector 4 - Grainway Sector 5 - Siller's Canyon
The Ark Major instance in Grainway (S4). Location of the sequestered female leaders of the Judges. Bountiful Tech town in Grainway
Others are more extreme, such as the tall grasslands of the Grainway. Some regions of the Grand Canyon Province, such as Sillers Canyon and CHOTA Gulch, are exactly what you would expect them to be Featured | Fallen Earth Ahmed: What can you tell us about future expansions? Will you introduce new factions or species ? Lee Hammock: Future expansions will include free additions to existing content, including new towns, encounter areas, and even new sectors of game play. Future purchasable expansions will offer entirely new sectors of play in different regions outside the original setting. These purchasable expansions will be the largest sectors available and will take the players to new areas of the American Southwest, such as Hoover Dam or Las Vegas. New factions and sub-factions, skills, gear, mutations, vehicles, etc will be introduced in expansions, but new species are less likely.
Fast travel has been mentioned as a possibility. Will there be any reason to use this feature, given that the game keeps guiding the player towards higher-numbered sectors? Fast Travel is one of those things we want to implement correctly. It will be a limited system and there will most likely be a cost. We have ways we already use fast travel, such as the LifeNet Transporters. Are you able to tell us some of your future, exciting plans? For example, you could elaborate on the next expansion, and maybe [give us some] more detail about Player Housing and when that will come into effect! Well everyone's seen the wall, right? We're building to something very big and very cool, but before we get there players will have to hear a lot more about Global Tech, LifeNet and some good old villains. We've got some awesome new content planned - some additions to crafting and hopefully some surprises. And Tetrax is one of our favorites. Do you plan to add real Item Decay to keep the crafting system viable ? We are talking about ways to keep the crafting system viable. This is something that we won't rush into. There are certain systems that we want badly, but more than we want the systems, we don't want to break existing game play. __________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ |

I completely disagree with your statements. They have done some major improvements to the graphics and lag issues. Sure, there is still a drop in FPS in cities, but not nearly as bad as it used to be. The graphic improvements have also done a lot to enhance the visual effects of the game. PvP is gaining more meaning and the developers have already stated more changes are coming to encourage being more selective with your factions. So, in a way you are correct regarding this, but it's not a complete waste of time. Some people do enjoy PvP just to PvP. IMO There are more players who are enjoying the wide variety available to them in the game, not just to level to cap. If you don't like the game, please give real points that make it as bad as you claim it is. |

Also, anyone rushing to level cap is going to gimp themselves pretty heavily when it comes to APs.You can noodle around in S1 for ages collecting APs, hit level 20 without even setting foot in S2, and it will all be to your benefit later on. The game is constructed to reward people who take their time and explore, put time into crafting etc. etc. It's actually almost an antithesis to the "ZOMGmustgettomaxlevelNAO!" feeling that has crept into many MMOs of late. And it's why I think a lot of people are turned off by it (equally, it's why players like me love it so much). I've seen many posts on many forms from people kvetching about being expected to "enjoy the journey" (for many games, not just FE), they claim the "endgame" is the be-all and end-all. Different strokes for different folks. I've seen people in /help who haven't the patience for the extended tutorial (or to do the handful of missions leading up to getting their Old Nag if they do), constantly see people who haven't read mission texts being confused about what to do, and all frustrated about it...on and on ad infinitum. A lack of patience will gimp you in the game too. Mind you, I can't really talk about patience, I'm not-so-patiently waiting for the server hotfix to be done so I can jump back in game to play with my new melee/mutations guy.

Imo it's one of the last "real" mmos on the market with Eve or UO. I'm not a HCG, only a casual gamer but can't play on closed, instanced, "full" theme parks. A mmo MUST BE an open word and players must be FREE. Free to create their char, to go everywhere etc It's a new mmorpg, young product but works FINE on my computer with all settings and all FX. has a nice and healthy community, i see players everywhere i go, even in the desert, very nice. At release the game was unplayable (terrible warping) but icarus worked really HARD and now game works fine. With FX the design is really GREAT and impressive. I actually play both Vanguard and Fallen Earth. VG is nice for diplomacy etc but FE is imo much better. Much better MMO. |
