No, its rubbish just like the rest of it. Shields add protections (directly reduces the damage you get), and 1h+shield is the only weapon style you can use while mounted (you can't use 2 handers on your mount). Additionally, 1 handed weapons are faster generally than 2 handed weapons. Parry shares the same cooldown as attacking. If you attack with 2 hander, you have to wait til its cooldown is finished before you can use it as parry. With a faster 1 handed weapon, you can attack and parry much more frequently. If we'd go paragraph by paragraph and discuss each point he tried to made, we could pretty much negate all of his "arguments" REALITY CHECK |

Although I would give it more stars for entertainment value than for informative value, I still found it to be an interesting read.
Seems like you touched the nerve of a couple others around here though. Did you happen to kill them in game and take all their stuff?
As far as the little 1-hand + board vs. the 2-hander? I think I Understand what you were trying to say. When it comes to a 1vs.1 (heck, even worse odds if they are newbies) I personally would equip the 2-hander every time.

True, but if you're gonna hack it just takes the fun out of actually playing a game. He probably just got tired of not playing Darkfall and quit, or was banned and has sour grapes. His review for the most part is based on that of a hacker that probably got caught and banned, that's why I find his opinions and conclusions to be less than worthy. If you're considering playing DFO and hacking, maybe you should take his word for it and not play?

Especially your will grow a reputation as a very credible source if you admit your hacking.

Egotrip: "Two handed weapons actually have more than one animation now ,even though occasionally they revert back to the good'ol overhead swing and seem to remain like that until i restart my PC (a bug perhaps???)"
Should we tell him it's not a bug, but a more careful style if you're fightning in groups, so you don't accidently hit friendly players - and all he needs to press "T" to change it?
To sum it up: After 26 days he played the game, he does not know that he log in at the exact location he logged out, he doesn't know to press T to switch between melee horizontal/vertical animations, and he admitted he used hacks. Incredible. REALITY CHECK |

Sorry you didnt like it. I just skimmed your post as I could tell where it was going. -Mounts, stealing should be a crime, unless your at war, havent been disconnected yet while riding but ya that would suck, I think the mounts look very nice and are well done, I wish people could freely ride them around the noob cities with out getting them jacked, jump off do your banking/crafting jump back on. You would see them alot more. -The alighnment, obviously PK's have the rewards and advantage hunting farmers and noobs, so where is the reward for hunting Pk's, I think a bounty system and some sort of advantage for good aligned characters would help. Some things i disagree with: -Ive always found auction houses to be to impersonal and destroy player interaction. I have always prefered localized vendors or just having a personal or buisness relationship with a crafter. I dont think everyone will spend the energy to max out every crafting skill I know I am dabbling in some of the low level stuff but doubt i will spend the time to max out everything. But I do hope they add crafting specializations where you can choose one craft to do better than the others. -The wildlife, thought it was a nice touch and I like how they run, or catch your eye way off in the distance and make you look closer to make sure its not a pk. Yes I have seen the unfortunate wildlife bug but cant complain to much after falling through the world in fallen earth then having to commit suicide and respawning across the map with a 30 min run back to where I was at. -The AI, say what you will, Its still the best I have experienced in a MMO. -I love the freedom of the inventory and think dragging and dropping items add depth to the game. Oh and I love the room in the bank box and how you can just stack tons of items. Lol Id like to see a 2000 Item slotted inventory. Some things i think are fine and do not care about: - The sound (which is accually pretty cool because it is a sense that is important like vision to the PVP and PVE gameplay, which I have not seen in any other game) -The ui, excluding chat, Auto run does work to still move forward while typing or playing with inventory ,but still nothing new to stop to type for FPS's. -The communtiy, Just like in real life mostly you can choose the company you keep. But ya you will be murdered relentlessly. - The one minute log out (never tested it), But fully expected it for a pvp game, although a quick log out via campsites like in uo(where you wait the minute in game confined to a campsite) would be nice. Some things I have not experienced and will not comment on: -Cheaters, Though I have in other games and am pretty sure they will be in every game. -Exploiting mobs, UO had it using houses or dropping items on the ground to block mobs, I think it should be policed but it never affected my game directly, if someone doesnt like it they can report it when they see it happening. Darkfall like every other mmo isnt perfect, but overall there are many good things and features that I like very much that your review totally ignores, perhaps you should have named this thread "Why darkfall made me cry". |

Probably, if you are running a particulary kind of 3rd party HACK, you get teleported to your bindstone automatically. Perhaps it even is a deliberit function of that HACK. I'd guess that the people who responded to his question asked in chat, were all using it too. And because you happen to be one of the honest players, Thillian, you do not experience this problem :p |

Just curious here. Why is it that Thillian is the only one saying that egotrip is a liar or wrong about the logging out in the wilderness?
Is it possible that some others have noticed the same thing? Is it possible that for some players it does in fact work that way? Is it possible that egotrip is in fact telling the truth about his experiences with DarkFall?
Just find it interesting to see the attitude displayed by some here. Thanks for the review egotrip... I for one found it an interesting read. |

I'll put it as plainly as one can to you in vain hope that you actually understand what i am trying to say: Two handed weapons revert back to the good'ol overhead swing and seem to remain like that until i restart my PC without me pressing any button fiddling around with any controls or actually affecting other weapons like shield and sword and remain like this until AFTER i restart my PC. Which part of what i wrote in green don't you understand or are you deliberately taking things out of context?

Like I stated, entertainment value. It was a personal take with a lot of tongue in cheek comments. I didn't find the OP extremely negative at all. It was more like disappointment than anything else. Heck, I was happy he didn't feel the need to try and put actual scores to each item. It was no different than when I read a slobbering love review. Each to their own.
It seems like some just want to argue because of who it is, and not the substance of the post, regardless of how accurate anyone may feel the "information" to be.
As far as anyone wanting information? I didn't realize that this forum was here to sell/promote Darkfall, but to have discussions concerning the game. People should visit the official Darkfall Site or use the link in my signature to the official Darkfall FAQ first and if they have questions they should post up.

It is certainly possible that it works differently for various people. It's quite common for software nowadays to behave differently based on both difference in hardware and difference in running processes (be they hacks or not).
I very much doubt that egotrip would be lying about it. Mainly because it would be a very stupid lie. |

Do I really need to further explain you Azdul's post on that subject? DarthReiden or Raspit also both obviously stated, the review is rather entartaining than informative. I can not imagine how can you not log in at the place where you logged out, unless you're killed meanwhile or you're logging out in the water. But sure, if he used hacks (which he admitted he did), some mod could made him cast bindstone recall everytime he logged out automatically. But seriously, is that a game's fault he's using hacks that teleports him to town when he logs out? REALITY CHECK |

A lot of his review is either wrong or he just isnt smart enough to find the right choice in game. He had a lot opinions as well. Good thing about t his game, is it seperates the people who cant make it on there own, and need ahand holding 24/7, I for one it is like that, those type of people deserve a linear game, like you op. |
