I just thought about several previous games, and people or companies behind them. And I have to note, that some names and companies just ties to awful product.
Im not sure if i can discuss real people in forums, but bahh whatever.
For instance Bill Roper. I don't know why he left Blizzard, but after Diablo 2, two games where he was in some kind of "chief". Those games pretty much was huge letdowns. (Hellgate and CO) Another one was Gaute Godager. He left MMO industry. But before that, two good concept MMOS, hugely failed. And as company I must admit, that EA already makes my skin shiver. Like alchemists strove (spelling?) for Philosofers stone, which should have turn everything into gold. Everything EA touch, turns to crap. With some minor exceptions. And I'm glad those exceptions is in games from BioWare.

I agree about Bill Roper, he was successful with Diablo2 and I remember back in 1999 in an interview someone asked him what game he was playing then Bill Roper screamed "EVERQUEST". I thought at least he has a sense of how MMORPGs go. But playing Champions Online and before that HellGate I have to say that I am extremely disappointed. What the hell are you doing Bill? Add to your list Brad McQuaid (lead designer of EverQuest and founder of Sigil Online) failed miserably with Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.

Careful about your EQ hate, you may be beaten to death by pom-poms and called a WoW fanboi. "There is only one thing of which I am certain, and that's nothing is certain." |

I have to agree, Vanguard is a good game that suffers from poor performance and bugs. I would still be playing Vanguard if I didn't have some weird bug every time i used the bank that required me to reload. (Not the greatest computer, for some reason i can run DA:O and WoW on max settings but Vanguard takes forever to load and i have to turn most of the settings down.)

Vanguard was pushed out too fast and was buggy as hell because McQuaid screwed the pooch when it came to running the company and managing the development. If McQuaid did not sell the game, it would have never have come out. |
