So I am totally lost with the focus of this game. The videos portray it as an MMO, even the design team refers to it that way - they say stuff like "online persistent world" where you battle for control. When you read the details though it basically says - "co-op 4 person play and team multi-player objective based combat." I then see that the supposed "MMO" portion looks like an add on pack that costs more money and not everyone will use. I love the idea of an Exteel style game that has persistent advancement in an MMO style, but this does not sound like it should be anywhere near an MMORPG website, since it's, well not an online MMO.
Can anyone help me understand WTF this game is? |

Lol. I would seriously be careful with how to ask this question. There are a ton of threads with this question asked, and all have been flamed to such a high degree that no real discussion has been going on. People say yes, people say no. It really depends on what you think of an MMO's definition. Like, if instancing is really an MMO or not. This game is instanced, if you have not known. |

Lmfao. No, no. It does have PvE in it, and PvP, it's just differently integrated. PvP without subscription is (I think) 12v12. If you pay the subscription, you get AvA (Alliance vs. Alliance) and have (I think) 60v60. I'm not too keen on details, but I think that's how it is. Then, basically, everyone is in one city or multiple. Something. And goes from there. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please. |

Like the OP im also confused. Now there is subscription and no subscription??? What is that? Does no subscription mean you buy a box and you get to play online with other people like Left 4 Dead? Therefore no pvp? Just 4 players against environment? Do you level up? Does it matter if you level up? Do you get to keep your armor and wpns and what not if you are not subscribed or do you just start from zero like L4D when you play a new game? If you are not subscribed do you have access to AH and crafting tables?

I dont THINK you can use the AH/Mail system if you're not subbed - crafting Im pretty sure you can.
There isn't a ton of difference, the biggest being AvA battles which is supposed to be the best part of the game. The battles are very fun/exciting and Im having a blast doing skimishes in PVP. That said, theres' absolutely no open world - so if you won't get that standard "MMO" feel like you normally would... I really do like open world/adventure games but at the same time its nice to just hop on when you only have 30 minutes and do a few quick pvp battles - I haven't decided if Ill sub yet but even if I don't its well worth the money IMO. Pretty awesome game and the dev's really do listen to user feedback (at least they seem to - they answer many questions and are very talkitive on the forums). Im hoping the things that need to be fixed - will be fixed before launch and this could be a good title to pick up.
As another poster said in a separate thread - its very similar to guild wars as in you bring "skills" or equipment into battle and each class has strengths and weaknesses. Need to tweak it a bit but class balance is pretty awesome and takes a lot of skill. Level and gear means almost nothing...
Again, personally I like it but needs some changes to make it really successful. I think its' in good hands - but do some research so you know what to expect. |

Pricing info in this link ... it differentiates the features for box owners and subscribers . http://forum.globalagendagame.com/gablog/index.php/2009/10/20/global-agenda-pricing-details-announced/
Sidenote ... it's not 60v60 ... its 6 times 10v10 |

Let me put it in a clear relation.
You know Hellgate London? It's like that, only less PvE and more PvP. Still quite a bit of PvE mind you, just don't expect the grandest of stories.
I repeat, GA is HL.
More on this analogy to come as I plan out a proper response. As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapable of solving approaches zero. - Vaarsuvius |

If you just buy the game and never subscribe you basically will have a TF2-game but if you pay subs you will have game that have a global territory control, where Clans/guilds(Agencys) can fight each other for control over areas. |

Wrong again... But that seems to be a trend with you. Global Agenda and Hellgate London share many things, the biggest being a huge amount of hype and shit gameplay. Hi-Rez claims to have spent 5 years and 20 million dollars making an Unreal mod... What a joke.

I hope this game doesn't start some BS trend, where all future FPS games, Call of Duty 7, Quake 5, Unreal Tournament 4, will have a mere hub to chat with other players (virtual browser) and try to force a monthly fee. |
