Hey everyone,
So I'm in the beta, and really liking it so far. However, I've got a question about uniform colors...I was under the impression that it was: Yellow = engineering/security/tactical Red = Command Blue = Medical/Science
It seems though that the game has switched red to mean security/tactical and kept yellow as engineering, and also included red as command (as seen by the fact that the admiral and other captains are wearing red, and the tactical bridge officer position is color coded red).
So I'm just wondering if there was a change in the cannon, or if I missed something, or if this is a star trek online thing only.
thanks. |

Your only thinking about TNG. This is kind of incorporating all the shows into one. Not to mention that you can make your own uniform and colors and can do the same thing for your bridge officers. so thats not exactly canon either, but you can make it canon if you want it to be. If your only defense for trolling or hatred is a stupid tag line, Then you should quit life. |

TNG, DS9 and Voyager all stuck to the red is command gold is operations (which includes security) blue is sciences thing. Enterprise went with TOS in which gold is command, red is operations since Ent was set before TOS. In short: One mark in the "Cryptic has no clue how to make a Star Trek MMORPG (or any MMORPG)" column. Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity. |

If they were to have actually chosen colors to represent certain ranks and force people to wear these colors, THEN they would have no clue how to make an MMORPG. Their decision is an MMORPG based decision. |

Err, forcing everyone to look the same isn't always the best idea in an MMO. As far as the lore/canon, Cryptic wrote in a thing (I don't have a link but I saw it ingame) where at a certain point Starfleet Command determined that ultimately captains have the final say on what uniforms their crews can wear. This makes sense because not only were they always changing the uniforms between the movies/shows/etc, but various races of crewmembers require different types of uniforms anyways.
