At least if they're unlocking something and learning the game, it'll still be time well spent. As far as getting the DDE to be a joined Trill, well, not every Trill gets a symbiote. You can still be a regular Trill if you don't have the DDE, you just don't get the extra trait. Remember only the best handpicked Trills are allowed to be given a symbiote. The concept of paying for game play element is just getting more and more pathetic. Anything bought in these packages should be acheivable in game else it just is not a game playe on a level playing field. Shame on the developers. ________________________________________________________ |

Xondar is spot on here. What happened to a level playing field. THis immediatley imbalances opportunities for those who have more cash fine in a single player game .... Ah but this is not. The people aren't unique, they have not acheived or done anything special in game. ________________________________________________________ |

Cosmetic stuff cant realy moan about that being unfair as its not. Items that give Bonus's and what not maybe you can moan alittle but those Items you normaly out level within hours so not alot to moan about there. All MMO's give away some sort of pre-order Items that give those people who pre-ordered and bonus its just the way it is deal with it. |

I ordered the regular version from Amazon.com. The Borg bridge officer is the only one I would have considered paying extra for and having it at low cost was just icing on the cake. :) MMOs played:SWG,NGE,Warhammer, World of Warcraft, Star Trek Online,Eve, Star Wars the Old Republic. |

How else would you gain access to the Open Beta? All the editions, including Basic, come with Open Beta access, and they will still be available once the Open Beta is in full swing. |

Imo, an open beta is some sort of demo to know if I should purchase the game... I am really on the fence with that one. I am a huge Star Trek fan, but I played City of heroes and I got bored of it within the first 2 months and I played the free trial of Champion O, to give me a little idea about what to expect with Sto, but it was also boring. |

I almost agree with you on that point, but a beta is not really for the players, it's for the vendor. I've been through many a beta and they always come with the caveat that some aspects could change and make the final product drastically different. I agree that it would be handy for the players to get a sense of what the final product will be like, but the vendor doesn't look at it that way. |

Open beta is normaly the last testing phase and largest one to Iron out any bugs or problems that accure during this phase its larger than closed beta so they can stress test the server and see how it handles under pressure of a larger population (Aion is the most recent game that is a good example of this the server ground to a halt lol). It is not a demo/free trial for people who are intrested in the game as it is still a beta version of the game and not the final product, a free trial will come along a few months after release. |
