I've watched a couple of the youtube vids and I haven't seen any Capt. Kirk-style karate chops. If the ground game had cheesy Kirk Fu, I'd be tempted to try it out. It looks way to generic with everyone eating phaser shots over and over and over. Give the fans what they want! Sex with green chicks and double karate chops to the neck! |

I read in one of the reviews, maybe on this site, where it state that one of the kits you can get for away teams gives bonus for unarmed combat.
EDIT: it was in part one... "On top of the weapon attacks, each player also has a kit. The kit further defines their role within a group and is a huge part of customization. There are, for example in the Tactical line, ones that concentrate on buffs of weapons, all the way to AOE attacks, stealth kits, and melee. These kits are nice. They let you really change things up and having a good collection will be important to being a productive member of a group." |

ya youll want to have some meelee knowledge when you fight the klingons and their batleffs, sure those gun toteing momos can try to block with a phaser rifle, but in the real shit hitting the fan times its good to know how to actually take a sword away from the maniac thats trying to gut you with it. |

I haven't seen any of the cheesy (but cool) karate chops to the neck, but I have heard there is the vulcan neck pinch. Also there are martial-arts style moves to an extent I believe. Leg Sweeps and Palm Strikes and the like. I also did see a video of a starfleet guy going stealth and then walking up to do a bunch of melee moves on an unsuspecting enemy. Plus I did see you can do the "Kirk roll" dodge maneuver. "Because it's easier to nitpick something than to be constructive." -roach5000 |

Don't forget the Spock nerve pinch. That would be a cool move for sneaking up on opponents and incapacitating them. Also, Dr. McCoy had some really good moves, although he didn't get to use them much. I think it was a quick jab to the side of the abdomen followed by a chop to the neck....
