My PC isn't the best (its a junk from 5 years ago), but if you can't see your graphic even close to mine, please don't complain about graphic. Do your homework first.
Come to Asura! The home of the really cute tarutaru.
Edit: and yes, i am using windower because windower allow me to not crash every 10 min and also enhance graphic *cough* none |

thats bad mate. the characters are very polygonal. the ground texture is horrible. the letters in the names are very blurry, those bushes are extremely outdated, etc. It's a great game, but it's from 2001, dont try to make it look like it has good graphics it has not. Better to emphasize the good quests and story |

The game doesn't have perfect graphics, far from it. However, for its age it is DEFINITELY on the higher end. -Computer specs no one cares about: check. -MMOs played no one cares about: check. -Xfire stats no one cares about: check. -Signature no one cares about: check. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

I'd say good art masks the bad tech, same as WoW. The latter has prettier env. though. ESS O ESS. O ESS O. OR ESS? Bah, fuck it, just call 911. |

I think the graphics are fine. They're certainly not bad (especially for its age!) and FFXI has many aspects that make up for any dated graphics it may have. Also, Agreed! Come to Asura! ;)

They need to make a rule that people are not allowed to speak on games released *before* the year they first entered the MMO genre... A game that is 6+ years old that has to keep with the PS2's graphical capability is showing it's age? Duh, cry more. FFXI was/is still a great game, regardless of whether sharp edges hurt your insides or not. Writer / Musician / Game Designer Now Playing: Skyrim, Wurm Online, Tropico 4 |

LOL... FFXI graphics are outright bad. Okay, for a game this old they're actually good, but for today's standards they're just bad. |

Sorry to bring back a dead thread, but ps2 over 15 years old? You've got to be kidding me. I was MAYBE 10 when ps2 came out, I'm now 19. Nine years is a safe estimate, I definitely was over four when the original PS came out, let alone ps2. |

Glad to see graphics make a game. Graphics are seriously not the first thing you should be looking at in an MMO after playing FFXI for awhile you will look past it and realize it is a great game. |

I agree. So long as the graphics are bearable still (no Diablo 1 for me). But, I also think with such a popular game they could have done this (now ofc it would require more money and devs): Have a set of graphics for pc and a set for ps2/xbox 360 It wouldn't be that hard to tell a pc to ignore the lower graphics and only display the good ones, and the ps2 wouldn't even know the good ones were there. |

The problem was that S.E hesitated in upgrading to comidate the Pc players saying that it would cause an unfair advantage vs Ps2 players and then 360 players. If I remember correctly it took them a long time to upgrade to 8.1 and then we were told a 9.0 was in the works but I dont think that ever happened. The char models as well as monsters were always well done and even years later are nicely done. Its the enviroment that seem to take less of the devs time and whats seem to become the biggest eye sore over the years. |

I tried this game yesterday after updating for TWELVE HOURS. It's not the graphics that bothered me. The characters attempting to strip while you're trying to create them, and the fact that the pc controls are....stupid as hell, made me quit after 30 min (when I finally figured out how to access the map) |

I'm still gonna give it a try, since I'm bored lately anyway, but the control scheme is horrible...can I possibly walk with wsad instead of the silly left mouse button? Holy CRAP. |

Of course read the manual for how to set controls, or better yet go to POL and watch their New Player Guide series of videos, which will walk you through everything.

Yeah, but even 7 years ago the work that went into environment texturing was horrible even with jack cumputer settings and a reg edit. |
