Ignoring all the haters. This game is still one of the best games out there. IF not the best. |

Only to a handful of people. Most consider it a singlle player console game that requires a monthly fee. Which I would assume is why the majority that tried it left in the first place. 10-20k subs is about all that needs to be said really lol.
And before someone says the sub numbers are fine or that I have no proof the subs are that low. This is there 3rd free trial and they've gone the route of DDO with it. There is a free demo for some many levels that you can play for as long as you want for free. Sure it's just the tutorial area, but DDO's free demo thing was similar and they eventually went free to play because the interest just wasn't there lol. Of course DDO was around for far longer than CO has been before it got to that point. CO apparently is trying to set a record here lol. Pay to pay to Free to play in 6 months.... go go speed racer goOoO. |

Haha, that reminds me of a reviewer who called the original Night of the Living Dead the best horror movie shot in Pittsburgh. In my experience CO is a fun game for a month at least, more if you play it really casually. It's just that the content is thin. |

That's a fantastic opinion you have there, though I'd really like to hear some facts to support this particular opinion. The last time they offered a free weekend through steam, the client didn't finish patching before the free weekend was up. Before you say it was my internet, I downloaded the client through steam in <30 minutes, which was 4 times the size of the patch. Apparently CO is so great, Cryptic doesn't want anyone new to try it out without paying! |

No doubt its a good game. It has alot of very inovatve stuff. But it lacks the ability to keep players interested long enough to keep paying monthly subs. Even thier forums have slowed down to a crawl compared to even two or three weeks ago. People are leaving. End game rewards lack severely. Cryptic has stated that end game rewards (Item rewards, drops, craftable items) will always have only marginal benefits. They dont want CO to be a game that is gear driven like WoW. Wich is fine, but without meaningfull end game rewards, it makes doing end game content not even worth the effort. Because once you hit the level cap, you super hero is already about as good as its ever going to get. Even taking the time to get those pretty purple end game items wont do much. So once you hit level 40... you basicly beat the game. Nothing meaningfull left to do in the way of meaningfull character progression. And its not like CO has alot of End Game content to do anyway. And since there is very little End Game content, people can always roll alts. But as someone above me said, the content is really thin. In order to reach the level cap, you have to do the almost all of the missions/quests in the entire game. Its like playing CoD single player over and over. The exact same missions/quests in practically the exact same order. Even the Alt-O-holics are getting bored of it. As Ive said before.. Its a good game with alot of potential. But for now its just a filler game. Something different to play if you need a break from your current mmo, or untill something better comes along. |

A simple truth-"What people want and what is good for an mmo is not always the same thing"-mrw0lf |

The OP and 10000 other people heartily endorse this game. "Just because you aren't paying doesn't mean it's not PTW." - Amaranthar |

XD /thumbs up 1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |

The theme/genre for CO appeals to casual gamers, but the open build / classless power/skill system is actually most suited towards experienced players or people who want to read and think about how to build their character. Most of the gameplay in CO involves the reptillian part of the brain, just like WoW and CoX, but the skill selection is certainly more intellectual than in WoW and CoX, because CO just has more viable fun combinations and more freedom. I played CoX for years, and I gave it a shot with WoW, but the combat in those games is too slow clunky. I have also had my fill of "healer/tanker/dps" for this lifetime, I am sick of that play style. CO goes beyond those stale categories, and while some people might abuse the freedom or feel lost in it, it is more satisfying to pull off a good character. For example I have a space marine in the style of a W40k army leader, and he has access to divine style healing powers, along with his machine gun, flamethrower etc, for a kind of heal-tank. A lot of freedom to make different characters from different genres.
Cryptic is trying a Customer Development approach to MMO creation. |

Yawn!
Not counting the MMORPG haters (bottem of the barrel) because thats all they do is hate. Champions easily outdoes the other superhero MMO game. It far surpasses other Triple AAA games. |

I see a small problem here. There's only 2 super hero MMOs. |

in my opinion, and this doesnt mean I begrudge anyone elses fun, this game is boring, bug-filled, and just so-so. Compared to COH/V (which I also think is bleh) I dont see a great upgrade.
You say it is the BEST game out there though you havent given any reasons why. Cryptic Employee much? |

The BEST game out there really is WoW in terms of polish, gameplay, and subs. Not saying I like WoW, but still CO could never be better than WoW. In my opinion CO is a unpolished piece of buggy crap. Sorry but anything made by Cryptic could NEVER be the best game ever. NEVER. |

To call this a rip off would be too kind. Its like a MMO without the MMO and a free to play to play game except you gotta pay $15 a month. Why anyone would want to maintain a sub to this massive scam is beyond me. |

Still? Did you say "Still" the best game around... First it would have to be the best game to begin with in order for it to STILL be the best game, in addition to that a significant amount of time needs to pass for me to buy that something is 'still the best'.... And in my opinion it's never been the best game around. |

I bought this game for $10 off steam the other day and have played it maybe once for what it's worth. I'd like to be able enjoy it so I didn't waste $10 but I have 0 desire :/. I blame Arkham Asylum. (The game, not my time on the inside ;) )
