I read many threads on this forum and they all came up with Asura being good population in the beginning for the Dunes.  If this is a good server, do you still need that server password to get in?  If yes, can someone fromt hat server toss one over?

You no longer need a World Pass or what not to join a specific server.  You can choose which server you'd like to play during the character creation process.

As for Asura, yes it's nicely populated.  I've had quite a few people message me about joining the linkshell for new/old players with helpful higher ups, and the hand is extended for you as well if you're seeking that kind of group.

I think the FFXI rep here raystantz is on Asura as well. He had an open LS that was taking anyone interested from lvl 1 on. Maybe send him a PM and he should be able to help you out. Check the large "You should be playing FFXI" thread for the specifics.

Ray was a part of my LS, not sure if he decided to go with his own or not.

As for a LS, either way you decide it will be a good experience.  If you're still interested in joining, send me a PM on here or in game (same name).

Not sure about the validity of this comment.

But i just migrated to Asura yesterday and it seems fine. The population dropped to 1700 for a bit but stayed mostly at 2100 (which is perfect) for the day. Maybe this was just the times i played though so not sure. Anyway i got into a linkshell on my 1st day and the guys are really into helping us get the stuff we need. I did a search of Qufim at one stage and 66 people were there. About 7 people were flagged for party also at any one time in qufim. Dunno if this helps any but just thought i'd let u know. Cya in game!

Validity = Been on that server since 2003

Shithole as in many assholes that shits down the community, or as in low population? Population wise it seems fine, was 500 higher than four other servers I tried out today meaning it ranks as one of the higer.

I just resubbed and tried all servers to see which one has most people and asura is like 2times the people. My old server Gilgamesh (one of the most played) is like 1000-1200 people on and asura like 1700-1900, also one of the lowest is garuda like 600-900 people.

 Angorim I'm still in your shell.

I haven't been on in a few days though, internet has been acting wonky.

I had thought about doing a shell, but if yours is "willing" I'll have some folks joining up soon.
