** Ooh theeres aaa monkey in my pocket and hes stealing all my change ** |
My top 8(in no specific order) reasons Modern Warfare ain't really such a good game in it's whole. 1: No dedicated servers. This is a really obvious point. You can't make much difference in what you want to play and with whom. Which is boring as hell. 2: Kill cam. Its not just the kill cam, the game in its whole is all about knowing exactly where everything is all the time which is stupid. Don't use silencer, get spotted. Dont use ninja, get spotted by heartbeat sensors. Dont use cold blooded, get spotted by constant UAV's. 3: Too open maps. This was never an issue before but MOST of the maps in MW2 are too open and it doesnt matter where you stand you can still be attacked from 5 different angles at least. This leaves room for little to no possibilities to cover something yourself. 4: Ironsights. Some jackass thought it would be funny nowadays to JUMP into ironsights for each and every kill you are about to get. Scream all the realism you like but it really aint. The way we see the guns while running around casually is so that it's up against the players shoulder. When you ironsight, unlike reality you dont really have such narrow vision and it really bothers me it would have to be necessary at all. Remember the good old FPS times where you NEVER had to use iron sights to kill something? Yea, cus it's better that way! 5: Awful weapons. Yea there are weapons that are plain awful and I say it's lame they cant balance them out properly. MW1 I always found some use for some weapons no matter which one and they had differences enough. Now many weapons are weak copies of other. 6: Nobody is built like that. This is one of the most stupid things in the game. When you sit behind cover and have full vision of the surroundings and have no problems shooting over the cover, people will probably just see HALF your head popping up from behind the cover.. I mean wth, you shoot with your eyes or something? 7: Secondary's are busted. My #1 point really. It's retarded how secondary weapons are so overpowered. MW1 you chose your pistol as your secondary. Now we have shotguns, automatic pistols (which are AS good as most SMG's and hell, even LAUNCHERS). This is soo stupid, we see snipers running around with dual shotguns for crying out loud. I bet all of you hate the old western shotguns that are extremely unbalanced aswell? Those with incredible range and almost always one shot kills. 8: Respawning. It's always so random and messed up in this game. People spawn behind or even INSIDE you on small maps. I can't with the wildest of imagination understand how they failed so bad on this point.

COD has always been too floaty for me. Iron sights is always funny. Especially when the Iron sights isn't properly calibrated for added effect. Its one of the most positive things about Red Orchestra. Because everyone is busy Iron Sighting, you can just sprint across bridges and bayonette people camping. Kill cams are also awesome except when the game does a bad job with players death. Like in some games you lose limbs and it makes the kill cam very interesting. Last did they add the Blackwater Auto shotgun that fires HE rounds? Also that shooting around corners blind doesn't actually work unless you using a 22 calibur weapon. The recoil on military weapons requires a more secure grip then an arm rotated at the shoulder, elbow, and wrist. Not to mention completely stupid. When you fire blind you can't see your target, but your target sure as hell knows where you are hiding. |

Love is benevolent evil. It is the sweet plague that devours reason, leaving euphoria in its place. |

Another point that I would like to bring up;
It's a PC Game that is essentially, for all purposes, a console game. Controls are designed around consoles, the lack of dedicated servers, and if you really pay attention, it's the only PC game on the rack that charges $60 for a regular version of the game. |

The weird lag in this one is something else. Shoot someone in the head and you die because he actually shot you first but you couldn't see it. I guess it's life like in a round about way were you have to shoot/stab were you think your target actually is an not where you see him. The riot shield... great idea but the game itself kills it.
Not game breaking but that alone will keep CoD4 running longer, at least for me. |

Hopefully, there are more out there like us. I would like PC players to play against consolers though. I don't think it does that, but either way they executed it wrongly imho. |

Must have the same bunch of beta testers we have for Mount and Blade Warband. They really love certain factions and they love certain weapons and by God you mention that that faction is OP or that weapon is OP and those beta testers that like those weapons will spam the beta forum telling you to shut the fuck up and learn to play. This is why some games like MW2 are so screwed up. There are handful of beta testers that make sure that they are heard and the rest are neglected and balance be damned. I was in their beta up until like 2 weeks ago. It is just stupid. If that game goes to market anywhere near as it is now and I suspect it probably will if certain beta testers have thier way...remember these things. Couching from horseback is the noobiest weapon of them all on open maps - takes zero skill - lower lance, rdie toward target hit target or don't hit - game doesn't care - just get the tip of the lance near them - target dies. Nords are and always will be the best faction in most situations and I suspect at launch this will not change - if certain beta testers have their way. Some of these beta testers bitched that horses were to OP. So the developers made it so that horses can easily be stopped by just jumping in front of them. Yes. If you hit the horse nose with your body you can stop it dead. Once you do this you can easily slay the rider with your spear or your two handed weapon. Just one swing or stab and you can kill them. Cool huh? Oh there is more stuff...but I'd be wasting my breath. Just heed this warning. If the beta test continues as it is going now...what I said above will still hold true. You'll know what to do when you play the multiplayer game. Play a Nord and grab a two handed weapon and go to town! ::sigh:: I think the multiplayer portion of Mount and Blade Warband will be just as bad as MW2 when it comes to weapons balance issues and game play issues. Which is why I wonder if the beta testers in M&B Warband aren't the same bunch that tested MW2. ![]() |

My only real problem in it is that they haven't fixed that fucking javelin glitch that people use. You ever just randomly get the shit blown out of you when you kill someone running around with a javelin out? Probably. It's because people are assholes. (typo edit) |

I'm digging it so far. Unsure if I'm enjoying it more than MW1 but that is only because MW1 had staying power, though I don't see why MW2 won't. You bring up all good points, except that you really don't give enough credit to how well the game is balanced. Now I'm playing the console version(360) so a few of your points don't really register with me, but as for weapons I have no real problem doing well with any of them. My current favorite, until some better weps become unlocked, is the Spas-12/Barrett Sniper Rifle combo. However I can still rank high with nearly every other weapon while I am going through them trying to reach 10 kills on each one. Even the machine pistols can be pretty deadly once you learn how to best use them. Personally I'm a "Run & Gun" kind of player and know how to use this along with player-prediction to do fairly well. I will agree that the kill cam is a bit of a bummer and I'm also not too fond of some of the other detection perks and attachments in this game, but the kill cam can be forgiven after playing Battlefield 1943 and seeing how much worse it could be, and the game provides ways to nullify every other detection perk and ability. I know the dual rangers and winchesters may be a little powerful, but I've been able to go toe-to-toe with players carrying them with just my newb Spas-12 over and over again. I've also found they have their drawbacks when I manage to steal a set off a dead player and of course they are no match for anything at a good distance. Lastly I've got to say I'm really really enjoying the throwing knife. To me this is the ultimate weapon and best update to MW Multiplayer even more so than the controllable AC130 or Attack Helicopter. What I don't get is that I've manage to win "Most Throwing Knife Kills" in nearly every single match I've played since I unlocked it. I doubt my 1-2(maybe 3) knife throw kills per match would take first place each time if other players were using it so I assume hardly any one else is. What's the deal with that? We all know that the "Bitch-Slap" of FPS games started with the pistol, then the knife, and now would of course go to the throwing knife so you'd figure more foul-mouthed 13 year olds would be using it. Anywho, I prefer sniping from 100s of feet away with no chance of detection other than what other players can see on their screen like we had with BF: 1942, but for a game like COD that requires smaller maps with faster action I'm more than happy with how they are doing things.
