I guess in a three years when Aion will have 200k subscibers and DF 300k, that poll will look very fun...

Seeing as Lineage2 still has a good 1.2 million subs about 5 years after its launch, and is a much much worse game than Aion....

That isn't happening.

The problem with player poles like this is that for every person that gives an honest vote there are 10 that vote for their game of the day in every category.

No one likes DFO? Really? Is that why so many more people are taking the plunge to try the game and LOVING it?

As for your community comment, I don't know all these "13 year old ethugs" that you're talking about. As a matter of fact, I find the community is much more helpful then in many other MMOs I've played. Hell, when I started out on NA-1 when it first launched I had an Alfar (my race) come up to me in my starter city and hand me a bag full of good armor, excellent weapons, a few thousand arrows, and some reagents/potions.

All in all it was worth way over 15 thousand gold, and all he asked was, "Hey buddy, do you want some help?"

So before you spew nonsense about a community you haven't been involved with (and pre-subscriber forumfall does not count...), do a little research or hey! Try the game out yourself...

Just as an FYI

The average age of a gamer is now 34 from my understanding I would not be surprised if its higher for DF players.

I mean honestly, do we see 40 year old gamers playing Aion or Darkfall? hmmm

Are these 40 year olds male or female?

Female - Aion

Male - Darkfall

Just my guess/opinion though.

Maybe but just to watch over their pre-teenage childern.

Sorry I find Aion style to be ...dare I say it....cartoonish! (that word gets me a hate)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that felt this way. When I logged in, it just felt like I was too old to play this game. Cartoonish is an understatement. I felt like I was in one of those 80's asian cartoon shows. It would have been awesome if I was still 10 years old.

First off, I hate end-of-year polls that use the word "best". These polls are gathering popularity data -- it has nothing to do with the best games.

Second, the currently leading "Best MMO Studio of 2009" is NCSoft. ROTFLMAO. That should tell you how bogus the poll is right there.

Well more power to you then. In the end all that matters is if you're enjoying the game or not.

Yes, all those 10k people.

A single example from a single person on the absolutely worst race? Hmm...

thinks back 10 months when darkfall launched and they completely closed up shop not even allowing you to buy a new game

Better to refuse to take peoples money to try and keep current players happy than to sell way more copies than your servers can hold and end up with 10 hour queues like Aion did.

Aion only had queues on the highest pop servers and people were too stubborn to go to the lower pop servers. Mine never had a single queuetime

Lower populated servers had queutime as well. They were just not as long.

This more than anything.  As long as you enjoy the game, that is all that matters because in the end we play games to have fun, right?

That should be true but with most of the emo angst players I have seen in these forums it is to flex their e-peens.

Of course if there are not enough players then it doesn't matter how "fun" you think the game is or who votes for it. Those 2 things don't pay the bills.

As an aside, you want to see how skewed a poll is? Answer me this, which 2 games are the largest in the world and have the most players? How come neither of them are the top 1 in the voting? That says all you need to know about what games people actually play and what games people just talk about playing.

Additionally the popular games players don't come to these forums and actually look upon MMORPG and many of these type of forums with complete disdain and scorn.

They are too busy playing their games since they don't have to try to convince everyone else that their game is "the best and most hardcore ever invented by the mind of man or a bunch of Greeks bearing gifts".

If you can find a more reliable source than mmodata's stuff( http://users.telenet.be/mmodata/Charts/1m-12m.png ) let me know. They haven't updated Aion with NA/EU subs there either, btw. That's just Korea/China.

I wouldn't trust such sites. Most companies rarely publish their subs numbers.... (does not apply to Blizzard who loves to boast about this....though they did take a heavy hit after losing all these chinese players) in other words, I highly doubt this is accurate enough to be used as a tool.

Xfire is the next most reliable site(And it's not very reliable at all), and it still has Aion as the 2nd MMORPG.
