No, it is because people are purposefully stacking the polls in favor of there game of choice. Icarus had TONS of advertising for FE prior to launch, and they have ramped up the advertising campaign even more following release. Please don't spread disinformation. |

I didn't see a single fallen earth advertisement until mid-November. There's a good reason they probably have around 5k subs. |

Here is the link to a similar thread from DarkFall's official forums: forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php
You can't really disparage Aion fans for doing something that every other MMO (including DarkFall) is doing as well. Any of these type of "fan awards" are popularity contests. It's always been that way... probably always will be. |

Not only that, not everyone likes sandboxes specially post apocalypse/sci-fi many prefer fantasy style games. |

Regardless of what game you like or dislike, these polls aren't really about the "Best of". They are about the "Most popular of". I say this because, in my opinion, it is unlikely that the average voter has actually tried the crafting (as an example) in all the MMOs listed. So, they are just going to click on the game they like (presumably the one they are playing). With that in mind, a game like Aion would already have a significant advantage over others since it has a larger player base then something like DF or Fallen Earth. Even if a higher percentage of DF/Fallen Earth/etc players voted in the polls, they could still be overwhelmed by the lower percentage of Aion players. But, perhaps there is some truth in the idea that a game that sells more copies, and holds more subs, on some level, is a "better" game. Certainly, to the accounts, that would be the case. That said, I would say a number of games on the list have been a bit light on the marketing which could skew results. Additionally, many games have a limited audience that they are trying to cater to. Therefore, they may very well be successful within the market they are trying to work in, but not so much in "mainstream" appeal. -mklinic "There's a point I think we're missing. |

I guess in a three years when Aion will have 200k subscibers and DF 300k, that poll will look very fun... |

The problem with player poles like this is that for every person that gives an honest vote there are 10 that vote for their game of the day in every category. |

As a matter of fact, I find the community is much more helpful then in many other MMOs I've played. Hell, when I started out on NA-1 when it first launched I had an Alfar (my race) come up to me in my starter city and hand me a bag full of good armor, excellent weapons, a few thousand arrows, and some reagents/potions. All in all it was worth way over 15 thousand gold, and all he asked was, "Hey buddy, do you want some help?"
So before you spew nonsense about a community you haven't been involved with (and pre-subscriber forumfall does not count...), do a little research or hey! Try the game out yourself... |

When I logged in, it just felt like I was too old to play this game. Cartoonish is an understatement. I felt like I was in one of those 80's asian cartoon shows. It would have been awesome if I was still 10 years old. "My fighting style is kneeing people's face" -Wanderlei Silva |

First off, I hate end-of-year polls that use the word "best". These polls are gathering popularity data -- it has nothing to do with the best games. Second, the currently leading "Best MMO Studio of 2009" is NCSoft. ROTFLMAO. That should tell you how bogus the poll is right there.

Well more power to you then. In the end all that matters is if you're enjoying the game or not. "My fighting style is kneeing people's face" -Wanderlei Silva |
