Lol you two are clueless but thanks for showing up to provide some laughs. And andmiller prepare to be even more shocked in the coming weeks :) The two of you are going to both need big hugs after this is all said and done. "My fighting style is kneeing people's face" -Wanderlei Silva |

You should be shocked that the Darkfall forums on here are actually positive for the most part, that's what is most surprising if you were around here (which I know you were) around launch. Funny how more and more and more people are realizing that Darkfall is an amazing game, that's about to become even better after the expansion going in now, and that it has progressed so unbelievably much in less then a year. Hell, there are like 7 threads on the main page that are like, "Hey, I'm new, I bit the bullet to try the game, and I LOVE IT!" It feels good to have stuck with it through the vaporware days, beta days, and launch days. What I've been rewarded with is the best MMO since UO I've ever played that constantly provides me with endless hours of adrenaline filled PvP and the best MMO world I've ever been in. |

While I agree with many of your points, I'm a little confused by this one: " Now before I get on even more people nerves I remind you this game is OBVIOUSLY unpolished, but give Aventurine a break, I don't know about you but I seriously looked into their company long before the game was released, and if you think for a second you could create this game with that amount of people in that amount of time and still create such a great game. Well I'd really go off but its just not polite. " At least 7 years, millions of Euros and a team of at least 30 people is what it took to make Darkfall. Why wasn't the game better at launch? It's only now, a year after launch, that many players consider it "finished". At launch, it was a mess. Aventurine has been hard at work and it truly looks like they've made some major changes, including several demanded by the player base, but they definitely had enough resources and time to make the game better. What they didn't have, apparently, was enough talent and experience. Thankfully, for them and the players, things are getting better. ~Ripper |

I'm actually currently subscribed to Darkfall - just an fyi - but I'm not stupid enough to believe these are actual expansions rather than just huge patches like every competent mmo on the market releases every few months like I said. |

well again, not sure how much it matters. When the day is done you can either play this game or another game. Gaming companies always spew cr*ap and code by any other name is still code. You either like the code or not, who cares what they call it. does your game have rainbow sprinkles and magic ponies!? |

You're correct - it does not matter - it's just disgusting (yet amusing as well) to listen to some of the fan boys of this game try to spin it off as two free expansion that would have been $30 or $40 like most real expansions from mmos. I'm not sure if I'll continue playing DF or not - will largely depend on if the game continues to be an magic spam fest (when, imo, the magic is the worst part of DF - just poorly done so I hate that it has been the focus when I enjoy melee/archery a lot more). |

For the record though if this is not an expansion, than EVE online has never had a single expansion. You realize that you don't have to drop $40 to $65 on a boxed expansion in order to classify it as an expansion, right? Some companies have a policy of giving them out for free. If you feel the need to classify it as a patch though, so be it. No skin off my butt. "My fighting style is kneeing people's face" -Wanderlei Silva |

Like I said - I was just referring to the way the OP wrote it (caps like/Aventurine is a miracle worker and Tasos is the second coming of Christ). He acted like this was the greatest thing of all time that Aventurine, out of the kindness of their hearts, would give us two free expansions. Take BC or WotLK for instance - these "expansions" likely do not have anything remotely close to the new additions/content those offered. It's just like every other mmo's huge content patches every few months. Nothing wrong with that either - but if Aventurine did attempt to sell these expansion for $30 it would be laughable - it's expected to get content patches like these for free in today's mmo market. |

Exaggerate much? I'm thinking you're reading into what the OP wrote. Sure the OP was emphasizing that part, but you're obviously reading more importance into it than others. Besides, the OP is excited about the new game they decided to try out. Already labeling them a fan boy is jumping the gun don't you think? Current: None |

I am not ashamed to admit, throughout the games development, I never thought it would see the light of day. I thought there were way too many problems and too much mismanagement. Of this, I have no regrets, as anyone looking at the game critically would have came to the same logical conclusion in the state it was in. I am also not ashamed to admit that the first few months, I thought the game was terrible. With the apparently amount of hacking going on, large amount of glitches, and most importantly the disaster that was just buying the game, I also do not regret feeling this way. Their business practices were, for the most part, awful, with how they delt with issuing accounts and then when the NA/EU server transfer issue came up. All this being said, one thing I am ashamed of is writing the game off entirely. Having finally played the game, in its current state at least (and looking to be even more improved with the patch/"expansion" that just went in) they have come a very long way, and there simply is no other game remotely like it. To me, it feels like an almost perfect merging of UO/EQ/ and in some strange way Morrowind. In my first few hours, I saw lots of things I didn't expect at all from the game, and that I haven't seen in any other game thus far. I would never say it was perfect, or without its flaws, but the experience has been surprisingly enjoyable, and I can safely say I haven't been as engaged in an MMO as I am now since perhaps Asherons Call. I mean, I got attacked while hunting goblins, killed, returned with someone else who was also killed, got brutal bloody revenge, ended up with more equipment than I lost, and learned a few things too. Oh, and the battle actually felt like you reasonably had a chance to win if you played your cards right. I can scarcely remember the last time I had an encounter like that. All I can say is, if you're looking for something to recapture the olden days of MMOs, and are looking for a dynamic game world, ignore the fact that Taso can't stop acting like a complete twat for two seconds, and give the game a go. Side note: They actually haven't been lieing all this time. The game does look much better in motion than the screenshots. I've noticed shadows in this game are actually worth keeping on for once. It's no Aion, but its still apreciable. Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts. EAT ME MMORPG.com! |

Originally posted by Nizur Well first I'd like to say thanks for a little defense Nizur, my crap comp at work doesn't allow me to post on this site. First I would say I did avoid darkfall at first and okay YES I am a fan. (I turned into one after playing, do I buy merchandise and dress up and role play? HELL NO!) Now the question is why am I a fan.... Is it because I LIKE bad games? NO... is it because I'm paid by that company... HELL NO... is it because I thought almost every review on the market does not give this game the credit it deserves.... YES. Is it because its the best game I've played in years? YES.
As for my caps lock on, to some that is a fairly big thing (OMG A LARGE FONT, RUN FOR THE HILLS) and more importantly I was trying to show or make more obvious LIKE THIS that at least the company is trying and doing things to make the game better. Sure... its not the "Best thing Evar" but its decent... and more importantly... if that is all you catch out of my review.... well I'm gonna stay quiet lol. For others, try reading the review and you'll see what I'm talking about, cause I do go into detail and explain things. As for graphics and such, pics/videos are hardly something you can rely on. Considering it can be made to look prettier before posting. Or downgraded due to bad recording programs and of course it depends on each players computer and the settings/hardware they use while playing. PS: This is my first review of any game ever.... usually I wouldn't bother writing one as many do this already.... However. I thought that none of the reviews I have found and read to date about DarkFall gives this game even half the credit it deserves. If you are not sure, do not speak. Better to make them think you are a fool, than remove all doubt |
