In any mmo you can rush to end game. In Darkfall, like in any others, you don't have to. Tons of DF players, like me, play casually, and its a whole lot of fun. My advice : Forget this guide and play at your own pace, developping your favourite skills. There are lots of new players joining everyday, and none of them have "end game characters"

wartywarlocks tip for rich people:
Buy a 2nd account, make red by killing yourself a couple of times, enjoy free alignment.
Or, (make red or not, easier if blue) dump the character next to where you are camping. Log out. When you have some gold/regs/items log in and if you trade with the red, it wont break the shield. ie you have an invincible mobile bank. |

Also the alt has to moved around to thelocations too and control 2 chars while PK attacks ..well.. also the login process may take a while its not a quick solution .. and eat the rich -----MY-TERMS-OF-USE-------------------------------------------------- "There was suppression of speech and all kinds of things between disturbing and fascistic." Until the game is 80% balanced picking your fav skills won't make you good in PvP. I wanted to be a debuffer sword and board user I'm currently using fire, earth, GM, Necro and pole arm why? Because debuffs are largely useless and 1h sword and board isn't effective unless you are willing to spend 2x amount of money you'd spend on a decent 2h weapon (r80 swords have .8 dmg, r50 pole arms have .74 dmg modifiers). Thats why the guide spefically says PvP end game character.

no really you can do everything well within the shield timer if you make all the interactions off the bluebies. besides this is posh easy with todays pcs and triple monitor sprouting gfx cards all you gotta do is be quick about movement, not that you need to move, point is doing this means you can camp a spot for hours. do this 3, 4 times over what is a normal bank amount, hearth and safe. you really are very unlikely to loose out. the most you can loose is 1 sessions worth if you loose more you are just clumsy shared between 2-3 friends its not even much to do so. this will be even better when local banking comes out. |

How to Realize that there is no end game in a skill based sandbox MMO

An important addition to Xipher's guide: The cheapest way to level something is to kill the mobs dropping the raw materials for levelling it. e.g. kobolds drop 5 arrows and bows. They can be killed with these. They also drop rank 0 polearms and greatswords which can be picked up and used to kill them. So, you could go there naked, use their weapons to kill them and come away with a ton of skills and nothing spent. In fact, you will make a good profit from gold that they drop if you get to a bank safely. This tactic is all the more important with magic, which can be horribly expensive to level. Find a mob that drops the reagents for the spell(s) you are levelling and then kill them with what they drop. |

Since the mobs drop weapons and armor, is the economy going to get stale? When I played I was killing goblins and had tons of back-up weapons for when I died and got looted. -------- The most awesomest after school special T-shirt: |

A mob drops items with a lot of durability loss. A crafted item will have full durability, possible better damage/defence numbers and if say they have high true forge then much higher durability cap. Monster loot does not compete with crafted loot. |

Ah well that is something then. How different are the magic branches? Like do I need to train perticular spells to be good or could I be viable with any spell line? And is each line different than the others enough that its not basically just different visuals? -------- The most awesomest after school special T-shirt: |

It may be the cheapest, but it's also very, very slow, if the mobs don't drop exactly what you need. When you invest a lot of gold, buy reagents and gear, and go to almost any mob spawn, leveling any combat skill 0-75 takes no more than 1 day. If you count on mobs to provide your gear and reagents, it make take a week or more, if you don't choose appropriate mob and good tactics. Trolls are perfect for leveling fire magic. They drop sulfur in such quantity, that you can cast firebolt and "health to mana" almost non-stop. 2-3 hours and you'll have fire magic at 50. Iklits are perfect for leveling melee. They don't use ranged attacks, and drop enough gold that after 30 mins you can buy new armor and new sword. For newbies skill gains may seem slow - but they are almost too fast, when you know what to do. |

Good solid advice for those starting out in DFO, luckily I joined a clan and got it from them. Nice post.
