I am so glad I do not play WOW. What you have been describing sounds like a mental illness where you "have" to have certain things because they are "epic". It is like people who are obsessed by collecting things... A game should be fun to play, once it turns into trying to get a toon to level 80 then it is no longer fun. What do you do when your toon is level 80? What do you do when you have the most epic items? You realise that those things are actually meaningless and you have wasted your time. Seriously go do some useful, helpful to others or try to have some fun at least ...

I've opened my email link to read this post and I look at the background pictures of mmorpg.com and I see a Dragon Age: Origins pictures. Then... my eyes look left again and I see the pictures of a human warlock and its pet... And I think to myself, WoWis fken old! Why waste any more time and money with this game? When I compare it to Dragon Age and all the fun I got playing and finishing it... All I can say is bye bye WoW, you are old news. |

From the lasted posts about WoW, it seems the writers are very new to the game. |

MMO's is always about being better. For some that is pvp and skill, other items, other doing content....it all depends, but it is not about beating it is about being better. |

If I look at tangible items myself I will need to resupply myself with tooth-paste, bread, some cheese and coffee within a day or so, though I hope that my flatmate can assist with getting the coffee as I bought already some the last time.
Did anyone care? |

I never said it wasn't. I just meant to say that for me, (eventough others might have a different opinion and I have to respect it) WoW doesn't currently give me so much fun at all, specialy if I compare the experience with some other recent computer games. I've played WoW for some years. Now when I look back its something like, "' 've been there, done that, not fun anymore". I had fun some of the 1rst mmorpgs I played like Lineage 1, Legend of Mir,Asheron's Call, etc, but now I would never return and play them again, even if they had hundreds of updates and new content. I think WoW is at that stage... |

Actually it seemed to highlight the chore that game has become...planning is saying hey let's meet up on Friday to hang out...not "look everyone this is what my life will be like for the next year" When you list things that you are going to do with such detail as to have the exact amount of gold you need to farm each week to meet your year's goal, you are entering obsessive compulsive personality disorder. Someone should get him help. |

As the only point in the game is item grind the only thing I do not understand why WoW have so limited storage space so it is impossible to keep all hard earned epic items over the years! |

You have a todo list and have calculated the hours necessary to grind out the todo list. That sounds like work.
Unfortunately, WoW's end-game IS work. An MMORPG should play more like a fantasy novel than a Nike sweat shop. |

I think you need a translation: The problem is the lack of game play in a game. Its like naming stamp-collecting a game, and even worst -every year you need to throw your old stamps because you have only one binder. |

After reading the original article all I can say is it could be of use to someone writing a paper on addiction or just general insanity. Now I may be completely off base here but how could any of the tasks the op mentions actually end up being fun? Sounds like pure tedium to the point of nausea to me. |
