That may sound funny, but I'll explain myself.
I fully understand the purpose of instancing. I think for dungeons, its important to revolve the gaming experience around the player or party. If it didn't work this way, you'd be running into a dungeon which has been cleared by a party not too far ahead of you, and well.. we know all the other complications too.
I enjoy the Cerulean Hills or Searing Heights like areas. I like the idea of roaming around, exploring, hunting and tackling a little quest here and there. What I don't particularly like is that EVERYTHING is instanced, except for the public places like the towns and taverns. And even then, the towns have a number of instances to divide the load. (I don't know if the load is divided to help the servers, or to help the clients from being over whelmed with too many moving objects. Or both.)
I would like to be able to walk into a wilderness area which is public and has random spawns, and at the other ends of this fairly long wilderness map, another town. That way a person could travel from place to place in certain cases.
So take for example, you step out into the Cerulean Hills, and while you're in there, you may bump into a small party of low levels exploring the area. One might get into trouble, and you could even offer a heal, then be on your way. You carry on and make you way to the opposite end of the Cerulean Hills and there is perhaps another "entrance" to a 2nd part. Kinda like the Orc kidnap quest area. You could load up another wilderness area which is long and has a couple of shrines strategically placed. At the end of this long wilderness, you reach a whole new public town. One which has its own dungeons and quests to keep you occupied for a bit.
Instead, we talk to ship captains and materialize everywhere we want to go. I don't mind the way things are now, but if this game is to evolve, it needs to open up some and stop trying to make everything a private instance.
I know there are certain places accessible to higher levels. I'm level 7 now and I've just entered that redish island from House of Kundurak's port. That's going to be some interesting exploration, however... I still feel like I'm alone on that island. No one else around. I believe that spot is its own instance too.
