You all realize that NCsoft doesnt ban botters for the legit players right? Do you think those botters go away? No they buy new accounts and come back. thus NCsoft just set themselfs up to sell another 11k copies of the game. |

The question should be: why did ncsoft allow 11k bots on their servers? How many of these bots were actually bots grinding on the maps and pwerleveling people and how many were throw away spammer characters....while keeping the account intact? Why did they put the chat spam filter in so late? Given their past games, and Aion in asia, did they figure it wouldnt happen? Other than insulting the enemy faction, really what use are the player shops? 99% of the player shops, that arnt spammers, are advertising the cheapest gear (much higher priced than whats in the AH), or are afk, selling junk for 99999999999. Instead of going after the source, they appease the players by mass banning bots every 6months, then throw their hands up and say "were tying" I know there are bots and spammers in all games, but certain games they are so in your face you gotta wonder if the distributor/developers are in on the gig.

Meh, Stay away from games open to the Asian market and you never have to deal with gold spammers and bots.
I have never seen the point to paying a monthly fee for a game in which you are so bad at it that you must cheat to level up. |

i could swear that mmorpg.com is a site for people who hate mmos and take special pleasure in watching them fail just so they can complain that there are no mmos left to play |

Good job on the bots...if they really deleted that many. There sure were a lot of bots in Aion, but not too many. I mean. after you blocked four or 5, you were good for a whole day...It seems hard to believe that that added up to 27k bots over the past few months, but hey, they're industrious little bots so maybe. They deserve the benefit of the doubt, so good job if they did. I know there has been some improvement. And I know there are a lot of complaints about the game itself and content, but if they're having to spend all their time blocking bots, I say give them a break on updates until they can get that first plague down. No one is superhuman. That said...some of you Aion maniacs need to settle down. Your game isn't perfect and you are no better than they people you attack when you fly off the handle just because someone points out a fault in your game. If no one points out the faults, they will never get fixed (even if they get pointed out in rude ways a lot of the time). Loyalty is great and all, but dang. MMO players might not (stereotypically >.>)have live social skills, but you should at least have some on the internet. To attack someone so veraciously for disagreeing with you would be unacceptable in real life and it is on the internet too. Geez...haven't you seen those Cyber-bullying commercials with JoJo? |

I remember when I played Lineage 2 back in Chronicles 2 im not sure if you were there or not but they posted up on official forums saying " we are banning all botters" ... " the other day we banned 29,000 bot accounts" . What you have to keep in mind here is that they might not actually be banning anything. This could be just PR spin to retain current subscribers. If you are right I will come back in here and pubically apologize for trolling but going by NCsofts given record over the years what they claim I wouldn't hold to a huge grain of salt because we have seen the same PR spin when lineage 2 launched and look where that game is now its infested with bots. I would give you a guest pass to SWOTR, but then I wouldn't be able to find a way to live with myself afterwards.... |

I'm glad there's still people like you, clear minded and immune to carbage companies hype and lies. It gives me a warm feeling to know that even I'm toxicated by this evil mindcapturing company and playing their product, you hold the beacon of truth high and are better than the rest of us. And your dedication to warn possible future users is just admirable. I don't know where I would be if you didn't tell me that I'm playing bad game and not to mention a one where I'm the only human. Although, I have to admire all those programs that have passed the Turing-test and seem like humans. I would like to ask you a favor, please sort these people out too. I've got a strong feeling, that their game might be a crappy one too. Please, act before their delusional souls are lost forever! Thank you.

since your wall of text is based on this; how sure are you about this? If i were to use a method for banning i would have a code to narrow it down, instead of looking for 5 minutes. account active for 22+ hours a day ---> add to watch list these are the most basic things even i can think of; they pobably have alot more complicated, on point methods which in the end requires one person to look at a long list of numbers and gives a goon banning. I need more vespene gas. |

Let's say that NCsoft actually did what they said and banned 27,000 accounts. You people do realize that these Botters will simply buy another copy of the game and start a new account. Folks, NCsoft is in business to make money and these tactics prove that they are good at it. Yes, I have played Aion since beta and I like the game but I am realistic about what is going on here. |

Well among those banned are also innocents like myself whose only crime apparenty is being good at harvesting for crafting. Before i get slammed let me state a few facts... 1) I have NEVER EVER bought ingame currency for ANY GAME EVER. 2) I have NEVER EVER used third party programs 3) I have NEVER EVER used macros...the single macro on my account a friend had to help me make and it is for launching a caht tab for the fortress raid legion. 4) I spend a hour a few times a week harvesting..collecting between 200-300 pieces of whatever it is i need for crafting. 5) I spend several hours a day gaming..yes I have a life but when you are stuck at home and everyone else is at work or school, I game. 6) I was standing in front of the warehouse..I hadn't even harvested a single thing or killed anything when I got banned. 7) Only thign i had done ealier int he day was harvest less than 200 titanium and 100 gold ore. 8) I had filed a petition cause I got stuck in a hole after kiling Farmer Havjark (sp)...got NO GM Help witht hat but was told when i filed i was third in lilne and it was a 23 minute wait. I ended up using a scrol to get back since the cooldown on my return wasnt back up. Then had to pay to get back to where i was harvesting. When the survey came asking bout my experience with the petiion..i todl the truth...that I as unhappy and never got a GM response and had to use a scroll ot get out thus losing the boss drop. 9) I was banned 4 hours AFTER i logged back in frmo havesting titanium so I could craft some armor for a legion friend and to sell. 10) Filed a ticket have gotten absolutely NO SUPPORT whatso ever.
I have been a loyal customer with NCSoft for nearly 5 years now. I have played at some point just bout every game they have had except orignal Lineage. I have never had so much as a warning on my account.
Innocent people do get caught up in the bot banning...my only crime is being good at harvesting and knowing where the good nodes are. I have watched the same bot farm for days non stop...that bot was still running around when I got banned. So now instead of enjoying a game i had grown to love..over a holiday where I could play with friends...I get to fight with NCSoft to get my account back..and they seem to be doing nothing but dragging their feet...holiday or not..if the game is runnign support should be there. btw..my xfire tag is wrong..i tend to forget to log into xfire while gaming if my friends are not on it |

No botters normally buy accounts. But they generally use stolen credit cards to do so. But some do not and purchase the accounts with legitment credit cards and game time cards. Anyone can pickup a throwaway credit card at walmart or any other market like that. The amount of money these botters make selling there gold is normally more then ncsoft will make just selling copies of the game. The RMT market is dealing in Billions of Dollars. So a couple thousand $40 game box's is nothing but a drop in the bucket for them. $400k spent on game boxs vers 100 million they will make back from gold sales.. I will say thats a fairly good trade off at the end of the day. The sad thing about Bot's and RMT is that most of these people that do partake in Botting and selling the gold to the gold salers market are just normal joe people trying to make a little extra $$ on the side. I've been in my share of large guilds from WoW to Aion to EQ2.. And its not uncommon for several members to have side accounts they use for botting up a second character or making a little extra $$ on the side. You would be very suprised see what the picture really looks like from the other side and where the RMT gold generally does come from. |

Also if botting and gold farming is a sign of bad game design then every MMO ever made is poorly designed since everyone of them has bots and gold sellers in them. |

Right. This is the real issue. They are releasing a lot of PR, but they were saying good things about banning bots during the first month as well. However, I saw no action that actually supported their PR releases. For now this is all just a bunch of numbers that I care nothing about. What I need is to see video of typical bost-infested areas, taken over the course of a few days, that's NOT taken by anyone who is working with NC Soft. The bottom line is that I simply don't trust them. I spent so-called "closed beta" and head start dealing with the bots (and reporting them). I reported bots in Live (a number of which were the same bots from head start) every day for the first week until my ability to submit petitions mysteriously broke (the support ticket for which was "elevated to a senior GM" and then flatly ignored up to the point that I canceled my account). I saw the same bots that I reported every fracking day continue wide out in the open, ostensibly 24hrs a day, flat out ignored by NC Soft all while NC posted anti-bot PR on the web. If NC Soft wants my money again they will apologize to me for... ahem... losing my support ticket and then they'll SHOW me that there's actual substance behind their words. Otherwise they can stuff their empty PR straight up their turkey. oh hai this is not a sig |
