I'm going to bump this thread in a year (by which time JGE should have finally released) because by then we'll be able to discuss all the bugs, glitches, lag, and other polishing issues that will almost certainly still be present in JGE.

I agree. Especially in this case: they are not polishing it for release, they are reworking stuff. This brings new bugs and other issues. So really, JGE delay(s) is nothing to celebrate. If a game has all the features of WoW, its nothing but a WoW clone, but if it lacks any of them, its incomplete. |

The MMO industry really needs more adult orientated games :( |

Did anyone play Freelancer way back when? There hasn't been a decent multiplayer space shooter ever since that game. Just hurry the fuck up and release it already! Why are there so many cutesie, fantasy, childish MMO's. Give me blood, gore and a long lasting challenge. I don't need my hand being held along the way. Thanks. |

I would actually play the original Jumpgate while I wait for JGE, but there are literally fewer than 20 people online in that game during peak hours. See for yourself (click on Pilot Center -> Online Pilots). Same goes for Vendetta Online, which I mentioned earlier.

Yep, only 11 people. As an aside, Jumpgate vets often complain that JGE is going to be "too different" from Jumpgate Classic. I agree that JGE is slated to be more "mainstream" and "accessible," but if Jumpgate Classic is so amazing, why doesn't anyone play it? I actually would like to know the answer to that, I'm genuinely curious. My guess is that the game just didn't get enough good new content to keep it fresh and interesting. Obviously something wrong with the game if it only has 11 people at peek, im suprised the servers are still up with so few people. |

Originally posted by DoktorTeufel I'm not sure of vendetta's numbers, but planetside as far as im aware is the only 100% pvp MMO, and one of a few based on player skill. it got to 60k subs before slowly going downhill(you can still got 1000 people online at once though...), though the development team and marketing dident really help things. I just think that if people are wanting action in an enviroment that is skill based, then they wont be forking out $15.00 a month for it. The game is going to need to offer something more so people do want to pay to play it. will charcter progression, and apprently large scale pvp be enough? i guess we shall see. funny enough if the game goes good or bad, you're going to get the people going, man if they jsut had of made it like JGC it would have sold millions and killed wow and...yea.. ![]() |

I definitely agree with you, there are plenty of completely free online skill-based games out there, like Left4Dead2, Team Fortress 2, and so on and so forth. The game has to have some meat and depth to it, and also leave room for less-skilled players to succeed at something, otherwise people aren't going to pay for subs. Currently Playing: EVE Online |
