Thanks for the long post Darkholme. I dont agree with everything you said, but just to make one point, take my complaint about crafting being pointless. WHat I was getting at is more that crafting for money is pointless. Since you never lose anything, there is little demand for crafters. And since everyone can easily craft for themselves some of the way, and get better faction stuff higher up, theres again little demand. And to go along with that, what I meant by character bound items is that when you equip a gun, you can no longer sell it. And some items are indeed bound to you forever on pickup, which means you cant fight to get them, then sell them. Essentially, the professions are seriously limited. Theres little demand for resource gatherers, or crafters, or much anything else. Which means when you level to 45, what is there to do? Youve explored everything, youve crafted everything, very few people are buyig your stuff, you dont have much else to buy with all your chips, theres no reason to have a faction fight, no motiviation beyond bragging for PVP since you cant take money or stuff off people. Etc.

Now if everyone can get over comparing it to WOW, we can move on.

The OP said "You level to 80, then what?" all I have to say is welcome to MMO's son. Once you hit max in games you either hang out with friends, raid for shinies or find something to do.

Oh and one more thing not sure whats going on in your head OP but FE is nothing like wow, combats diffrent, vehicles, crafting (best crafting ive done in any online game) I get tired of people comparing wow to every game that comes out every single time its like beating a dead horse.

Its the easiest comparison. Technically wow is a clone of other MMOs. What I mean is classes, leveling, auto combat, rare item drops, no death penalties, etc. FE actually is one of the lesser WOW clones Ive played, but it still copied a lot of stuff.

All mmo's are copies of each other. From UO/EQ each and every one has added features or refined them some stick some dont..... WoW clone makes no sense if u think about it. Also peeps that use that term show their age in mmo life .....just sayin

OK I'll break my own rule this once...

That is something that I actually agree with in spirit. I don't think it's totally pointless to craft in FE though. I would like it if there was some sort of item obsoletion in the game that would foster a better, more realistic economy. The thing that scares me about FE is that doing anything drastic to make that happen now probably isn't realistic unless they want to alienate many of the people who are playing now... I just don't think FE needs FFA looting and actual item loss to accomplish it. I think wear and tear (degradation through use which negatively impacts item performance and statistics) and obsoletion through better gear and/or personalized gear (via R&D, better quality materials, etc) are the way to go and would be quite sufficient. At least some of which can be added over time with little or no negative impact on the game as it stands now.

Yeh,..I can't believe they put quests and a mini-map in FE. Such a ripoff from WoW! They even took the arcanite reaper model from WoW and try to pass it off as pistol in FE!

Not to mention that, JUST LIKE WOW, you control a character who travels around a landscape killing stuff.  Could they be more blantantly identical?

Check my post regarding the free trial keys being offered by the escapist.  A bit of time has passed so they may, and likely are, all gone but you never know.  If not im sure (with the way things have been) that they will offer more soon enough.

As for this post...the only thing I can say is LMAO.  I think everyone elses posts regarding the OP have pretty much summed up my thoughts accordingly so ill leave it at that.

This thread made me want to give FE a try!

I played FE and now i'm on a break. I can easily see the commonalities between WoW and FE. To suggest that this game is vastly different than wow is just silly.

It has quests with big blinking things over peoples heads. It has no death penality to speak of , it has kill and collection quests.

there a many many thigns about FE taht are different than wow too but the op is entitled to his opinion.

I liked FE, still, seems it didn't got me hooked. Perhaps I'll try it again another time.

I guess part of the problem is that none of my RL friends play or want to play it.

I loved FE, and I loved the gameplay, but honestly, my eyes hurt after just a few minutes of playtime. Even if you make a perfect game, if everything is perfectly hideous, I will be unable play it. That is not to say I do not understand that it was post apocalyptic, I do. but even so, I need something to look at that is not so bad.

I played the game during the first month and liked it. Rather refreshing and not at all like WoW AFAIC. I'd still be playing if they had fast travel, free and to and from any city, instead of the hours and hours of riding through an empty landscape.

If there was a meaning to pvp, risk vs reward, something worth to make you kill players, i bet traveling would be great. I mean, traveling with your group of friends and kill anything you see. Ant it suppose to be an apocaliptic feeling?
