Sorry but this agme is destined to fail. i played this game for 20 mins at eurogamer expo in london, and it was piss poor then, and all the other peoples reactions there were the same. Crytpic have lost their marbles, just pumping MMO's out just for the sake of it. If your gona make a fuucking mmo, atleast put some efforts into it. Star trek is a huge IP, and a huge world, I would thiink even to make a half compitenet MMo that does justice to Star trek would take a minimum of 2.5+ years. |

He will press that button with great muscular force. That button is his bitch. Cracks me up more than Captain Robau. |

First thing I thought of was the cover of "Buck Rogers Vol.1 - Countdown To Doomsday" by SSI... |

"Sorry but this agme is destined to fail."
Your reasoning is very weak to base your dislike for a game due to limited game play at a demo. Thats as bad as basing the game will fail because it doesn't have features you wanted (Player crew members, interiors etc), as others could care less about those features. |

This game has had several years of development. Cryptic is the second company to work on the project. With that in mind there is no doubt that they scrapped a lot if not most of the first companies work, but they did have a base to work off of. Add that to the fact that they are and have released games that people do play and I would definitely call this a game that people will play (me being one of them also). You can not call something fail before it is launched. |

Actually, Cryptic didn't get any of the code/hard assets from the Perpetual project. They more or less started from scratch. |

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results. |

Actually if I remember right Cryptic said "There was virtually nothing we could use, so we had to start from scratch". I also have to say they are the 3rd company to start work on this. Not the second. |

Nice, box art, and I think the game will be ok, I kinda get a laugh out of people that make fail posts on a game that has not even gone live, I will admit the Star Trk crowd will be hard to please, to a point.. I can understand that, being semi-trekkie myself but I am sure I will play it and have fun at least for a short while..:) |

This isn't exactly breaking news. I saw this on GameStop's website yesterday when I pre-ordered. |

I'm really hoping this game does well. I'm really looking for an MMO that will keep me interested for a long time. I think Cryptic has thought through some very difficult concepts for this IP - so some big ups to them. I just hope it lives up to be a great game. With that being said... I have to admit I was a bit underwhelmed by the box art. Just thought it could have been a bit more... I don't know... epic. Oh well, still hoping that the game is great though. |

looks a whole lot like that movie guy.
Also i think its quite obvious who they are trying to draw in with lasers, ships and explosions on the front cover...

It's quite well known that the first play session of any mmo is vitaly important to 'hooking' people into investing into it. The poster didn't like he's play session and thats up to him, if thats what it take to make up he's mind thats he's choice. It doesn't affect my judgement of it although having experience of Cryptics last offering I'm understandbly cautious to begin with :) Personally I think if it's playable in some state when it releases it'll probably have the same affect Star Wars Galaxies had upon their community. Behind all the blueha over the NGE and Combat Upgrade most people forget that when SWG released a lot of people didn't appreciate the design approach Sony took, (i.e. the 'Ultima/Everquest in space' approach), so dumped it quickly. A lot of Trekkie won't probably like the one man ship idea or episodic content approach. It'll be interesting to see if Cryptic can lure those doubters in or not. Judging by Champions Online I'm not so sure but miracles do happen :) |
