Hi, I played VG on launch, and have gone back to it once since then for a few weeks, and have been thinking about trying a 3rd time. However, the one thing that I didnt like previously is that everywhere pretty much looked the same.

It may of course be just me not exploring very well, but I cant even find any screenshots or videos of anything but the same style of rock / grass area.

So... is there more to this land? Is there Ice lands? Fire lands? Underwater lands? Something that takes you 50 levels to find, and when you do you go "Woah... thats stunning..." ?

Thanks :)

So, by posting the images of the same grass / rock texture in different areas, laid out differently, sometimes with the sun shining, and sometimes at night,  presumably what you were saying was "No, there is nothing different if you travel far enough" ?

Those screens look different to me.

Whoa, just realized I might just be feeding a troll...disregard the above sentence...

Not a troll, I just want to know if there is more to VG than grassy  / rocky areas. Those screens show grass (in different colors and different layouts) and rocks (in different colors and different layouts), and are shot with different lighting, and sometimes show the sea. The rocks and grass are primarily the same texture base, just recolored.

What I really want to know is if there is anything DIFFERENT to this. In EQ/EQ2/LOTRO/WOW/WAR/AOC etc etc you have vastly different landscapes in different areas, which tend to get more interesting the higher level you are. During my time in VG (which, dont get me wrong, I enjoyed), I only ever saw the areas in these screenshots, I never found anything really different and interesting.

Can I buy a boat, for example, and sail to a new area which is all frozen ice, huge ice structures, snow, wind etc? I love exploring in MMO's, but with VG, no matter where I go, I cant find anything different...

I hope I have now clarified my question. Thanks.

You have three themes. The Orient, Middle Eastern and Britain. Nothing you are looking for is there. If that is what you care about then VG will only disappoint you a third time. This is not WoW/EQ/EQ2/LOTRO/WOW/WAR/AOC and thank god for that

Thank you, that answers the question. I didnt know about the "theme lands" (or if I did, I had forgotten!), which explains alot.

And no, its not all I want from VG, I want a living breathing deep mature world, but I do love to explore and find those new jaw dropping areas :)

Thanks again.

I understand what your trying to say jayanti,

I also agree, and notices the same as you, areas are the same yet, little differences.  The above poster with the 12 screen shots is trying to give an example of differences, but they don't cut it.  Your right, just different color matting on the ground, maybe a coconut tree instead of an oak. But it all looks the same, To me the world is for the most part a flat layout, with small theme areas here and their, with rock areas, but not much.

If I were to leave the room, and someone were to zone me to a different area while I was out, it would take me several min to realize where I'm at without using the map.

It's only my opinion but I find the graphics to be outdated, like EQ2, but with sparkling tree foliage.  It still has houses, and rock formations, that don't quite fit in, and shore lines done with a straight edge.

Graphics are not very important to me as game play is.  My problem is population, making you play solo yet you can't play solo because of the " requires 3 or more player quest"  that control the game starting around level 20, leaving the boring kill 10 rat quest.

I'm not playing Vanguard now, I just like to come here every few weeks to see if anything changed, but as always nothing !

Yes, exactly! But I do enjoy the game, even solo. The best time ive had in an MMO was when I was exploring in VG, got chased by some mobs, ran away by going over a mountain, fell down the other side, and found a quest which gave me a flying drake to use in the local area. I flew around for hours!

How big is this world? I have heard it's big, and I for one think those areas look different. I've not been able to find anything about how large the world is, or really anything objective about the game at all. I realize that it's a game that for whatever reason has polarized people, but if one of you has objective information about the landmass size, variety, style, etc. or about the game in general I'd be interested to see it.

That is just my opion and we all know what THAT is good for!

The world is very large.  So large they had to add in some teleport stones to get to/from certain hotspots.  This was due to small community in such a vast expanse of area.

As stated there are 3 continents which each have their own theme so to speak.  One of the "continents" is fairly small and mainly an island chain that has an oriental theme to it.

You will not have an issue with finding places to go but, finding groups to do things with is another story.  There is probably enough solo stuff to take you into the 30's but it gets tricky from there.

My favorite area is the Vampire area.  It is a taste of what the game SHOULD have been.  There is no quest to go there ( or wasn't ) and you had to talk to someone ( that did not have a quest indicator on them ) and gain their confidence before getting any quests to do things.  The end result would be having the Vampire curse.  Generally gave you a small bouns at night and during the day a minor hit.  Also had an added effect of letting you become a bat and hover or kind of a cloudwalk type of an ability.  Not a big advantage but, fun to play with and RP.

Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.
