So I've been folloiwng Aion ever since launch, as I'm very interested in playing, and simply waiting on my new pc's before I start. And man, reading these forums have been painful at times. It seems that threads are filled with people that simply have an agenda for Aion to fail. Now, I understand if someone doesn't like the game, that's cool, but then why the hell are they still posting about the game? 

For example, my friends tried to get me into FFXI, but I hated it. But, I didn't then go live on the FFXI boards telling everyone how crappy the game is. So why do the Aion haters do the same? I mean, if you hate the supposed asian grinder crap fest that is Aion, why the hell would you waste any more of your time even thinking about the game? It just doesn't make sense. 

Not to mention that I really think they are exaggerating their complaints, or just plain making them up. Why? Because you'll see a healthy amount of posters state that they've never had to grind, that they are havving to abandon quests just to make room for new ones, and are having a blast playing the game. Then you'll get the trolls, that say it's a grind fest that's boring and a terrible game. Both of those statements cannot be true at the same time, it's impossible. So one side has to be lying, and I really don't see people that are bored with the game, that are grinding constantly, coming on to these boards saying the opposite, it just doesn't make sense. 

So, the Aion haters must be trolls, with obviously nothing better to do but put down the game, right?

The games that have most people arguing that it is terrible are the ones that promised the world, and everyone was excited about, only to have it turn out to be crap.

Aion is crap. I thought it'd be awesome. A lot of people are in the same boat. They want to bash it as much as possible either to get their frustrations out or to allow other people who plan on getting it to see EACH point of view, not just the positive ones.

I have plenty of things to do but i can spare one min to say Aion is a disappointing piece of crap.

While I understand how you feel about why people care to even think about the game anymore if they hate it heres how I see it. The trolls seem to be telling the truth and being REALISTIC, the few people that post positive stuff about the game are typically the type of BLIND OPTIMISTS and let me tell you there are plenty of them around just look at the people that kept playing SWG after the NGE and CU.  Blind Optimists they make any bad situation sound great and look good.  How do I know so much about these idiots? Because my step mother is a blind optimist.  Not trying to be a jack ass but I have seen the currency spamming bots in towns for an entire week and when its been reported by hundreds of people and its STILL THERE A WEEK LATER. And than you get 50 people that deny that happens its bull shit, they're just trying to make their game sound good. Lol. Because they feel like its an attack on them personally.  Its just like if you call a descrepancy out on religion, all the religious people feel PERSONALLY ATTACKED and lie to make it sound better.  I dont like trolls anymore than anyone else but they tend to be telling the truth and being REALISTIC.

Yup! Don't be mistaken, there is abit of a grind now and then if you try to rush too quickly threw quests but overall there is plenty of xp to be had if you take your time leveling. Even moreso once the patch this month comes out.

Aion truly is a fun MMO, don't let the haters here fool you. The fact that they dont enjoy it makes them feel the need to try to ruin it for others but the facts are that many many folks are ingame having fun. The PVP alone is the best out there right now imo not too mention the graphics are top notch and there is plenty of lore to be had.

This thread should be flooded by trolls and haters soon, theres no way around it. The only way to find out if you'll enjoy Aion is to try it for yourself. MMORPG.com isnt the place to find the information your looking for unfortionately unless you find some good reviews from honest folks. Send me message if you need more info on AION. I'll give it too you striaght up (im neither a hater or fanboy). Most of the folks here are out to bring Aion down...its sad really that they have nothing else to do with their time LOL

hit the mark here, imo take it as you will but realize maybe some people are trying to help people not waste money on this game. 

Also, FFXI is a great game you just have to find a good LS and put a lot of time and care into leveling to get to the really good stuff. These other MMO's have spoiled people so only the elite still play FFXI.

And the game definatly has a grind, but it isn't as bad as a lot of people make it out to be.  Almost everything people say here is just their opinion.  The game has it's problems but I really think a lot of the hate comes from people expecting the wrong type of game.

True but people need to realize that mmos are not meant to be conquered in 3 weeks. They aren't the rpg type games where you can finish the game in a weekend. If they want something quick and easy to finish then they should go play pacman or asteroids. My opinion is that PvP focused mmos fail, Warhammer Online failed and Aion will eventually suffer the same fate in the NA/EU regions.

See where you are mistaken is in your distinctions between Haters, Fanboys and Trolls.

Fanboys: Fanboys will defend their game with passion as well as well thought out posts with tons of information and counter points to a haters post. They will normally refrain from using language and name calling to get their point across. They also tend to be a bit more apologetic to the short comings of the game or its design, though they will acknowledge the negative.

Hater: As with the Fanboy, A Hater will point out the flaws in a game and not sugar coat every bad asect of the game. Most haters will tell it as it is, without being apologetic to the flaws of the game or its design. Again, as with the Fanboy, they try to refrain from using language and name calling to get thier point across.

Now onto the Troll.

The Troll is actually made up of both Fanboys and Haters.

The Fanboy Troll: Nothing is wrong with the game at all. It is the second coming  and Christmas all rolled into one. Anyone who says differently is a liar. The Fanboy Troll suffers from Ostridge Syndrome; If they dont see it, its not there. Everything is perfect in their eyes and everyone who speaks differntly should be burned at the stake. Name calling and language are pretty much their only weapons along with posting only the positive and never the negative.

The Hater Troll: Never happy with anything and only lives to annoy others or cause forum wars. The entire world is falling apart and the end is near in their eyes. Always right and never wrong, The Hater Troll will use his arsenal of foul language and name calling as well as unsubstantiated info to prove the game is the spawn of Satan.

When it comes down to it, just because someone doesnt like a game doesnt mean they shouldnt be allowed to speak thier opinion.

To me Aion is the same old same old wrapped in a pretty package. The combat system is simple, the overall gameplay is, while colorful, is nothing worth bragging about. PvP/Fort sieges is like a game of capture the flag sans the flag. It reminds me of WoW back when Alliance and Horde would take turns taking a tower. The community is not much better than WoWs Trade/Barrens chats. Is this me trolling? Nope. This is me pointing out my opinion on the game from what I have played/seen others play.

Spot on! Of course one will find trolls, flamers and haters to bash Aion. You must take these as well as other's opinions with a grain of salt. There very well might be truth in what these haters say, you just have to filter their post.
 

Alot of people have genuine concerns about the current state, or lack of, of Aion. I am one of those people.

For me, I was really looking forward to Aion, especially how over time it was being presented. I used to be enticed by the glamorous and glossy pictures and videos, played closed and open beta (Chinese server) and live state.

It was all abit too much hype and not enough meat on the bones. It just doesn't excite me as a player and an explorer.

That you choose not to see them. There are quite a few here to be honest. I can name at least 4 off the top of my head.

You have to remember, the fanboy troll is the fanboy who will post info, usually in new threads, that paint a game in a positive light when the info really has no bearing on the actual state of the game itself (People who will post 'Game is a hit! Sold 1million copies' ala the old AoC posts)

Aion had way too much unfounded hype. Now it's time to meet reality and pay the price. Face it, dear fanboys, your game is just another Korean-style endless and pointless grindfest. And, which is worse, it'll ever stay this way.

 Just wait, soon they will move on to troll another game, like it is already happening with Alganon, and like how it happened to Darkfall and WoW over here.

-Yeah i agree with you'r post, i got aion when it came out and played free month and i didn't like it so who cares <_< ill just find something else and leave others who enjoy Aion to play in peace....but guess some ppl just want to troll.....

U just have to realize that mmorpg.com has stopped being an informative site about mmo's long time ago.

It is just another web site to spend ur time while at work or when u cannot play ur favorite game.

I guess gamers nowadays just love to use forums as a way to express some of that hate they have ,for the way they live in general.

Now about Aion.

My advice would be to try it out for urself.

It is a nice game with great graphics and pvp that has no match to it.

Yes flight makes a difference no matter how hard they try to convince u otherwise.

Servers are full still with players enjoying the game , i have no clue if this is going to last for a long time but for now it is fun and for me this is more than enough.

Game has it's problems like all other mmo's , bots are everywhere and ncsoft so far has done nothing about it.

One minor detail though that noone mentions here is that bots are far far away from the abyss , cannot go to ur elite farming grounds and cannot enter all the instances , so if u play with friends and group this is going to be a fun game for sure .

Another problem is siege crashes that hopefully will be fixed soon , and low drop rates in dungeons , but this is already being solved with the upcoming patch ( a very good one too).

If u try to solo ur way up to 50 like most haters did , just killing mobs well yes this is an asian grinder for sure.

Leveling is not like wow , is everything being given to u freely NO , is death penatly harsh YES (Costs a lot to get ur xp back) .

Make ur choice buy the game and try it .

Hope that helped , now they can quote and flame my post all they want , it makes no difference anyway cause people are enjoying Aion no matter what haters say.
