I played Darkfall at release and quit because of the crappy alignment system. I recently checked out their site and it looks a lot nicer with some interesting stuff happening to the game. I searched the official forums but couldn't find a run down of the current alignment system Looking for some generous person to give me the details of exactly how it works now in terms of grey, red, timers, number of swings, and grouping.

its the same and probably will never change until they add a reason for it to i.e. RvR. I take that back, its harder to go from red to blue now, you only get 1 point for killing a red guy but you get -8 for killing a blue. Also, all races not allied to you show up as red and race allies who are evil show up as dark red, clan mates and allies are green. Right now, unless you like doing quest, there isn't a reason to stay blue. The game isn't about red v blue, RvR (they ditched that or thought more RPers would play the game), or any of the other dynamics, its just about player interaction.

Does everyone and their grandmother still try to kill you if you're red? |

Yes, but you can minimize the amount of people who will try to kill you by joining a clan in a large alliance. But isn't that the way it is in every FFA Full Loot game after UO circa 2000? Clarify: Generally people who live in chaos cities don't attack inside or just out side the chaos city. That doesn't mean chaos cities don't get raided.

Well thanks for the info man, I appreciate it. Sounds like it's probably a little less chaotic than when I left around launch. That habits, clans, alliances, unspoken rules, routines, etc. are a liittle bit more established but that there are alignment system exploits (i.e. 4 different blues hitting a single blue once every 10 seconds to kill him without losing any faction points) stuff like that, sounds to be alive and well in Darkfall. |

I wouldn't say they are alive and well since most people won't bother doing that anymore because its not very profitable. But thats the way it will be in every FPS style game, even MO.
